How To Polish Internals

There has been a few threads asking how to do this so I figured I would type up a how to.

First what does this do?
It smoothes out any rough parts and removes excess paint that might have gotten in the inside of your marker.

Why do this?
It lets your marker cycle faster increasing BPS by some. Gives you better efficiency which will mean you will pay less for air or CO2. Its the cheapest mod you can do that has a big impact on your marker.

What parts do I do?
Both receiver halves, the back bolt and top of the sear.

What you will need.
2 Rough Brillo Pads
1 Smoother Brillo Pad
Sink
WD40
Aluminum Polish

Step 1
Take your 98 completely apart and clean all oil off.

Step 2
Take your Brillo pad and get it wet in the sink. Rub back and forth on both receiver halves until smooth and shiny. This can take a long time and a lot of elbow grease. Also do your sear and rear bolt. Be careful on the rear bolt, that you dont ruin the oring on it. Everything should look nice and shiny.

Step 3
Clean off the Back bolt, receiver halves and sear. Now take you smoother Brillo pad and rub over the receiver halves, rear bolt, and sear. This step is not necessary but will just help smooth it out a little bit more.

Step 4
Clean the receiver halves, rear bolt and sear of with a paper towel and WD40. Then take the polish and polish everything that you took the Brillo pad too. This will make it smooth and more shiny.

Pictures of After.

Re: How To Polish Internals

Has anyone else polished their rear bolt? I polished and contoured my rear bolt, and it made the marker operate much better.

Re: How To Polish Internals

Looks good. I only polish the front part where the bolt slides though...laziness is the reason for me.

I used a dremel tool with a polishing wheel on my rear bolt were it contacts the sear, and on the sear.

Re: How To Polish Internals

Just for the record, and we went through this ad naseum on x7og,

Polishing your internals WILL:

make your marker cycle more smoothly, reducing kick.
make your o rings last longer due to reduced friction and increased lubricant travel.

Polishing WILL NOT:

Increase ROF or efficiency.
Increase range.
Increase accuracy(except for reducing the kick which may help with your accuracy.)

Good write up though.

Velocity MAY increase slightly after polishing(although no one has been able to explain why this some times happens)

I'm all for polishing and have done it on all my markers but please make sure you do this or any other mod for the right reasons.

My internal where actually not bad when I bought my tippy. I still polished them anyways though lol.

And I think it really did improve my accuracy!
