| Black out tippmann 98 Im new to the 98 modding scene and noticed a mod someone had done to make a PP-19 Bizon style marker. I got the Q-Loader and can find the other componets but im not sure about milling. I dont think I can get a hold of the equipment, and i dont really mind the TIPPMANN logo on the gun or the safety warning, I just wish they were black. Can I just file them and paint over or just spray without filing? also, whats the easiest way to remove the front hand grip? I know its alot of questions, but I'm new and any thoughts or ideas would be helpful! Thanks.

| Re: Black out tippmann 98 I used a file, sandpaper, hacksaw, handdrill and some Plastic Padding Chemical Metal (same as JB weld) to create this from my 98: ![]() and here are some "during" pics that might help you? ![]() I made a template which helped me a lot. the template was just a black/white 1:1 scale printout on plain paper. Try and get a lot of pictures of the bizon and print them out to scale that way you can more easily see what needs to be done. to get the bottomfeed you will need to drill a hole from the bottom and fill in the old one. But if it is the same bizon I have seen it used a feedneck modified to feed from the rear of the gun (to get the qloader to line up better with the gun). If you do drill a new hole in the bottom you will need some new detents, shocker detents are quite commonly used for projects since it is easy just to drill and tap holes for them. | Re: Black out tippmann 98 Quote:
The feed system on the Bizon I did is made up of a couple modified off-the-shelf items and one piece I made myself on my mini lathe First and foremost, the most important piece is an Armson Power Feed Adapter for a 98. Like this one: ![]() Armson Pro-Feed Paintball Tippmann Model 98 M98 Power Feed - Black | eBay As you might surmise it must be heavily modified to fit this purpose. When all the unessecary metal has been removed and the new feed port drilled into the side (I ended up not needing the extension piece you see pointing toward the rear) it should look something like this: ![]() Then I filled in the holes and sculpted the inside for smooth ammo flow using 2-part epoxy putty... Then from the Q-Loader parts page you'll need a 90* Feed Elbow and a Hose Adapter Sleeve: www.qloader.com (I noticed they have a specific adapter for the 98, but it is designed to use the hose. To make it hug the receiver tight like I did it would need to be modified. Another part that you could possibly use if you can't find a Power Feed Adapter though) You want to use the Feed Elbow from Q-Loader, it's a 2-piece design that bolts together w/ 3 allen head screws and as such is far superior to a simple copper or plastic elbow. It'll cost you $28 for both pieces but it is really worth it. As seen in the following image, I use longer hardware through the elbow in 2 of the 3 holes, these thread into holes drilled/tapped in the top rail cover and receiver half (4-40 thread) so no matter how roughly I might handle the Bizon on the field, it's impossible to bump or knock the elbow and interrupt the ammo feed... ![]() The silver connection piece in between the two I turned on my lathe, but you don't have to be so fancy. You just need a piece of pipe or tubing that will fit in place and not impede the flow of ammo (I carry a Reball around in my pocket just in case I need to bore-size a fitting or piece of pipe/tubing) Under the peice of EPMD foam between the elbow and the feed socket, the metal hose adapter sleeve of the elbow and the plastic hose adpater sleeve of the socket are so close together they have to be machined to fit against each other. No room for any hose! The foam hides the joint and makes it look pro. Here's the whole build thread, there's so much going on with the Bizon you'll want to read through this (don't miss the A5-style charging handle) 98/PP-19 Bizon Last edited by MikeC13 : 02-03-2012 at 09:31 AM. |
