What's wrong with bolt-ons?

Some people just really hate 'em, but for many, that's the only choice they have. Personally, I don't have have the machinery to do stuff to my marker, not that I'd know how anyway, but "bolt on's" if done right imo are plenty good. So if your marker has a bolt on, post up and show everybody that they ain't so bad. I'll lead the charge.

Re: What's wrong with bolt-ons?

Bolt-ons are modifications that can be made to the marker without having to actually modify the marker itself, by way of milling , cutting, welding or any other form of advanced fabrication. For instance, my magazine is a bolt on mod.

Right, so post up. That's what this thread is all about bro, to show that they have merit like any other mod even though we don't have to strain as much, lol.

Re: What's wrong with bolt-ons?

ug i guess ill bust out my gun and take some pics but that other thread has pics of my gun so i guess ill just talk about it and you can go check out "yep its mine"

but first i did an air through handle

but what i did was drill straight through the handle of my gun and used a stainless steel line and put a nozel for a remote line on the end works nicely : )

next i made a custom clip to cover up the mess i made with the air through,
i bought a airsoft clip and then some simpson tie, bracket things bent em up cut em up and slaped it together, painted it black and it turned out very nice

next i bought a Q-loader and didnt want to spend an extra $50 for stupid mounting system so i got some pvc and made M203 out of it fits well with Q-loader and attaches to my M-16 shroud, also dissembles very quickly so for whatever reason if i have to take it apart i could even do it hidding in a bunker...

i dont know if this counts but i made a sling also out of rafting straps and sewed them together and put some buckles on it works very well also

so there you have it if you want some more pics ask me

Re: What's wrong with bolt-ons?

Personally, I don't know of anyone that had a disliking of people using bolt ons. The finished product usually is better made and it makes the gun different.

Now I definitely see where people like custom work more because it makes your marker unique and special.

Re: What's wrong with bolt-ons?

There's really nothing wrong with bolt-on parts. There are some thing that I consider unnessary, but it's personal prefrence. (Example: don't need a RVA unless you get a lighter rear bolt w/o a LPK)

That being said; I've got a "Model" 98 circa 99' and that means that for anything other then a stock, barrel, or vertical air adapter I have to mod it.

Re: What's wrong with bolt-ons?

The problems with bolt-ons is that they often* are the same** as most other bolt-ons, and require little or no skill*** to create a 1337 3n13pz0r3z or t3h G36C I SAW IN COD4 LOL. Milsim used to be purely homemade game, and with the new X7's and such, any kid with enough money can have an M4, and the custom feeling is lost.

* I stress "often"
**Not all bolt-ons are the same, yours is an example.
***An AK stock/bolt/barrel dont create an AK. Its picking and choosing wisely that create something nice. You (techie) happen to get a little smack talk for having a bolt-on because of the aforementioned kids with too much money.
