| Re: Salvo Well, 2 things... It is the way light is reflecting off of certain parts... And the paintballs at field has hit and actually altered the paint/finish of the gun. It is actually Flat Camo paint, but for some reason, the paintballs used at the field effects it over time. The paint at High Velocity in Long Island is kind of harsh. I have left it on, over night, on my mask and actually ate away the chrome finish to the lenses. I have had it on my hands and some how reacted with my sweat(would not do it alone, maybe needed the salt in human sweat), and when I touched my leather gear shift nob, in my car, it started to eat away at that... Something about the chemicals in the paint they use, reacts to other chemicals like paint and human sweat. The shiny spots are where paintballs have hit it and reacted to it. I've also noticed, if it gets onto the rubber grip panels, they also start to seem glossy. I sometimes wounder how safe this paintball really is...? In case you want to know, the paint HV uses Was Draxus, and before that was Kick Ass Paintballs. They have recently changed again, don't know the new distributer/manufacturer's name. Oh... Here is the latest Evolution of my Salvo... ![]() Here it is next to my Alpha Black converted to flat top... ![]() As you can see, gotten alot shorter with the new stock, perfect for C.Q.B. Every time I think I am done, something new comes out I want to try. I guess it is like a piece of art, never quite finish, just abandoned... I plan to convert my 98C into a Salvo, just waiting for parts to get in stock on order for them to be shipped to me(already on order). Probably build it to use the AR15 stock that I had on this one, otherwise it will be set up almost exactly the same. I am just partial to the SIR For-grips. Just like how they feel. | Re: Salvo Quote:
Internally, they are basically the same, but you do need more than just a heavier trigger spring(but not much more). I just converted my 98C to a Salvo. You need to purchase the Salvo trigger, the 98C trigger will not fit. you also need to purchase 3 long body screws, the 98C use 6 short screws, the Salvo uses 3 long, 3 short. When you buy the body halves from tippmannparts.com, they come with the receiver nuts already pressed into body half for the body mounting screws, but does not come with the screws themselves, so you can save $6 by not needing to order the nuts(I assumed they didn't come with the body, so wasted $6 buying them). Otherwise, everything else can be salvaged from a 98... Here is a before picture... ![]() Her is after... ![]() Here is the Converted 98 next to my Salvo... ![]() I am partial to the SIR Grip, so put it on my Salvo's and Converted Flat Top Alpha Black. I just like the feel better, but it does make the guns heavier... Last edited by CIERA1932 : 11-13-2009 at 10:54 PM. |
