I just found an ad on Craigslist for a 98 Custom selling for $20.

I immediately called up and told the guy I'd pick it up later in the day. I didn't ask many questions because I knew that even if the marker wasn't functioning at the moment, it wouldn't be difficult to get it up and running.



As soon as I saw it, I knew this would take a while to finish. Just based on the outside it was obvious this marker has seen MANY games and was NEVER cleaned. The paint was peeling in many spots, and the old paintball paint was globbed into every crevice. All of the screws had rust on them, but none were stripped. In a way, I was pleased at how ugly it looked. I knew I could make her beautiful again.

Honestly I wasn't expecting to see an immaculate marker for $20, but then I cracked it open... What I found almost brought a tear to my eye.



I've read many Model 98/98 Custom rescue stories on the OGs, and I've always been impressed at how the operators dove right in and brought their markers back to life. I now have the opportunity to do the same. This marker is in (by far) the worst condition I've ever personally seen. I'm excited, as well as saddened. I'm happy to restore what I feel is a classic marker, but it also makes me sad to see someone let it get this bad to begin with.

That horrible but Im sure youll fix it up nice. I just bought A 98 Platinum in PERFECT condition from a budd of mine. Cost me 30 bucks and hes gonna drop it off in a few days

This 98s cool cuz its one of those with old logo on side but can take etrigger pretty unique

I bought one like that at a pawn shop for 50 bucks. All the paint on the outside was gone except some red ( i don't know what that was, maybe FACTORY???) It was missing the rear sight, front sight spring and had some random parts. Working on getting it repainted with black Duracoat.


The one I bought had a 14" J&J barrel and also a 20oz CO2 tank. I'll post pics when done see my thread Restore a gutted 98
