Re: Hex's Wendigo

I live in Surrey BC, 1/2 hour away from Vancouver....

its been anodized black since i took that photo...

that trigger is oversize btw, it will not fit within a stock trigger guard....as well the RT will need to be heavily modified to work (either i need to turn a longer piston rod or turn down the piston housing)...i 'could' make a version that would work in a stock 98 (rt, egrip or mech)....but thats the best thing about being a machinist, i can do or make whatever i want

Re: Hex's Wendigo

well, today my boss told me after the long weekend i have 10 days to meet some hefty deadlines, OT and some long days, and i normally work 10hours a shift....so PB machine time is next to nill.....

hummm, at least I made the rear sight for the wendigo tonight

^^^don't mind the drill bit, i was too tired to turn a 2.5mm pin on the lathe...

as well i finished the crude first prototype for the MilSig FAL trigger

^^^should be A5 compatible, hummmmmm...we'll see

Re: Hex's Wendigo

current mock up of almost everything i've done...i'm not planning on working late tonight, but i'll finished the front sight

i'm sooooo making a new bracket and machining the receivers....if you look at my OP picture, the qloader sits pretty close to the receivers as it is...i have an idea to make sit close to 1/2inch higher....

how is JBweld for metal on plastic???????i've only ever used it as a metal filler........

Re: Hex's Wendigo

Maaaan, seeing how close that grip seems to fitting easily makes me wanna buy another 98, and of course some airsoft parts. If the majority of the grip was hacked off would the ak grip basically slide on or does the receiver still have be slimmed down a bit?

Re: Hex's Wendigo

nonoononno....its not that simple

alot of the 98's grip needs to be removed..plus the 98s grip is too narrow....

i have 2 choices...one is to remove the 98s grip completely (minus the area i need for the RT) and make some sort of slide on receiver so the ak grip attached like it does on the airsoft guns

opion numba two (which i'm prefering because its simplier) is to split the ak grip in half, mill the 98 grip to clear the airsoft grip, put in shims to fill the side gaps and put a ton of epoxy to attach the ak grip forever....

i dunno, i have to figure out what/how i'm doing it by the end of the weekend cus monday i'm doing it..

FYI that airsoft grip is cheap and thin....very weak...

Re: Hex's Wendigo

Hmh, I figured it'd be to wide, guess not though.

The RT kinda complicates things to say the least. Were it not for the RT, then I'd just remove what I had to from the grip, fill the area for the RT with JB weld and seat a nut in there, and attach the ak grip like normal. Seeing as the airsoft grips are pretty dang hollow and weak, I'd prolly opt for a real steal grip, though I believe that might need a some routing out to fit over what's left of the 98's grip.

If were you though I'd prolly go with the second option. Having the RT just makes attaching the grip like normal too complicated.
