Hey all. So to start a couple friends of mine got me into the game end of the summer. They bought a bulk set of like 10 guns, tanks, maskes, etc on CraigsList so we could do group games on the weekends and everyone not have to buy a gun to get into it.

I bought one of the 10, basic older 98 Custom. Love it... but it was a little worse for wear. Paint chipped off, spray and ball chunks in behind the receiver bolt, it needed some TLC.




So to start, after reading some from this site (TY all for the info ) I bought some sand paper, primer, Hammered Silver paint and some clear.

Now for side info... I am a auto nut, work parts for a dealership, do my own work to my car, and recently this summer wet sanded my headlights back to clear because they started to haze over really bad. So I know my way around sanding.

Sexy. The difference was unreal. Actually had a friend disassemble his so I could show him the difference, guess what hes been doing

Once that was done... time to sand the case and prep for paint.

Then onto the Hammered Silver. First 2 light coats were making me nervous, it looked like a basic metallic silver, no layer, depth, or hammered effect... But after Coat 3 and 4.... Ooooooo the pics don't do it justice.

I put them on too quickly... they made marks under them in the clear lol. O well, figured curing for 4 days would be enough... apparently not. This was a 2 week project as the first painting job fubar'd with the clear, a chemical reaction and it all dulled out and pitted... not sure what happened... removed the paint back down to metal and started over with a different clear I knew would work and success.

Finally reassembled after painting. Again the clear wasn't fully cured so some spots happened but it will come to be scratched in the field anyways, so I'm happy for now.




Yes I painted the tank to match. Kind of OCD about these things, and I didn't want my tank to be mistaken for someone elses... again... OCD thing.



I like it.

I might update later with new pics, but imagine with the basic Tippmann double trigger. A friend had a double trigger on his when he bought it, but doesn't like it. He has fat fingers and it doesn't work well for him, he prefers the standard single trigger, and the safety didn't work well with him on the double (fat fingers and power grip) he'd bend the plastic and fire a round anyways.
So we traded. Safety works well for me, I really have to pull to get it to bend enough to trigger, so Its fine by me.

Anywho, got tired of lurking. This spring I will update as mods happen. Lots of plans for this gun.

Very nice. Cool paint color choice too. I like the metallic look of it. Have you thought about buying a barrel kit or stock or anything to make it more personalized?

Definitely soon to come. Its getting too cold for my pansy friends to want to be out in the woods playing so it will be a good time to have it apart for mods. GF is talking about ordering some parts for Christmas gifts, so well see what happens there.

Looking into buying a Project Salvo with the Q-Loader system for my heavy modder and doing some light project works on this and letting the GF rock it when she wants to play with us.

Haven't fully decided yet, but mods will definitely be on the way.
