Re: remote line for newbies??????

Does your remote line have a slide-check? It's the little sliding "on/off" type thing on the marker end that de-gasses your marker instead of having to shoot it down. Very handy for switching between markers or whatever.

Re: remote line for newbies??????

The regular remotes are good for what they are. hook to gun, turn tank on. Play. Turn tank off, discharge gun, take remote off gun...

Now the real deal is the ProConnect 3. Use one for awhile and you will never go back to a standard remote again. Disconect in the middle of the game and connect to your launcher with ease. The PC3 makes regular slide checks looks bad.

Re: remote line for newbies??????

ill take a pic later but most likely just a normal line..

it does have the piece that screws into the marker... and has the quick connect on it... but most likely they all are like that????

Re: remote line for newbies??????

Yeah, they all have a piece that screws into the gun and the hose connects too. They are however not all the same. The ProConnects use a different male/female quick connect piece.

By your description you have a standard Remote line. Basicly there are three types of remotes. A regular remote, a remote with a slide check, or a ProConnect 3.

The slide checks lets you de-gas the gun but keep gas on the line. The ProConnect is an updated and overall improved remote to do what the slide check remotes do, but with out being a pain in the butt like regular slide checks can be. You'll start seeing more PC3's out on the field this season coming up. PSIworx just brought the PC3's out on the market.

Re: remote line for newbies??????

Here is the instruction manual for a standard remote.

Starting at the gun - parts

1) C/A adapter - this is the big black screw thing that screws into your gun
2) Quick disconnect male - this is the silver thing that is already screwed into the C/A adapter ( and it has sealant on it so it won't come unscrewed)
3) Quick dis-connect female - this is the part that connects to the the male side of the Q/D and is attached to your coiled hose
4) Coiled hose
5) Universal Fill Adapter - or better known as a UFA

The procedure for hooking it up is

1) Goggles on / Barrel cover on / cock gun
2) Separate quick disconnect and screw the C/A adapter into the gun finger tight.
3) Connect quick disconnect making sure it clicks in place. Give it a tug to make sure it is connected
4) Make sure adjustment knob on the UFA is screwed all the way up (counter clock-wise)
5) Screw your tank all the way into the UFA
6) Turn the adjustment knob on the UFA (clock-wise) until you feel / hear / see the coiled hose pressurize. Turn one more full turn.

(When the coiled hose pressurizes it might see it jump a little, you might hear your reg tank "sing", you might feel the line stiffen, and if you didn't cock your gun you might hear the valve give a little pop. Or you might not notice anything. What you want to avoid though is screwing the UFA all the way down. You shouldn't have to for the gas to come on. And screwing it all the way down can cause flow problems on some remotes)

You are now ready to shoot.

When you get ready to stop shooting ....

1) Put your barrel cover on
2) Empty and / or remove your hopper.
3) Release the feed port and make sure there is no ball in the breech ( I assume you have a Model 98 )
4) Unscrew the adjustment knob on the UFA (counter clockwise) for 3 or 4 full turns or until it feels "loose".
5) Point your gun in a safe direction (make sure the barrel cover is on)
6) Pull the trigger until the gun stops shooting
7) Cock the gun and shoot it again.
8) Cock the gun and shoot it again

Failure to follow 7 & 8 will result in disconnecting the remote with a small amount of pressure in it. This will result in a small o-ring on the female side of the quick disconnect flying out. This will result in you going "What the ....!" when you turn the gas on the next time and it spews out all over your hand and losing half a tank of gas while you try to turn it off.

Collin from Hustle Paintball has a good video on remotes here .

Re: remote line for newbies??????

Hey folks,

Just bought a Petrol remote line myself for my (not so vanilla) 98c.

(Sorry Noobish question/clarification needed!)

Does the remote line hook up to the Standard Tank Adapter found on the stock 98c's gun grip Tank Adapter?

Looking at the intakes it seems the Petrol remote lines ASTM Standard Male Adapter only has a 1/4" hole that, when flush threaded at 5/8" to the stock Tank Adapter seals it and prevents the C02 from flowing during my initial hook up. In reading above, if you mean" finger tight" that its actually flush with the Tank Adapter?

If anyone has used the Petrol remote line, is it designed to be partially unscrewed the Standard Male Adapter to allow air flow or no?

Anyhow any constructive help would be appreciated! Thanks!

-Rolly

UPDATE: Got it! Turned out my slidecheck on the Petrol Remote Line was stuck since it had never been used. Works under pressure.
