HPA Tank Maintenance and Regulator Advice Needed.

So I have a 5 year old Pure Energy 48cu 3000 PSI HPA tank that is up for Hydro this year. Now my first question is, should I also have the regulator rebuilt or replaced as well? If the latter are the regulators manufacturer specific or could I get one of my preference put on? Now if I want to and can have a new regulator put on, what ones should I be looking at?

Another question is, the only reason I am holding out at this point is waiting to have enough money for a spare/replacement, just so I am not out a tank while my current one is being Hydro-ed. So the question is, have stock tank regulators improved of the past 5 years? If I buy a new Ninja or Guerrilla Air tank with the same compacity specs as my current one, will it deliver better more consistent pressure?

sorry but it is not worth it to have that tank hydro tested and a new reg put in. the cost for s hydro and reg swap is 54.95 and anew 48/3k is 50.00 or less.

whenever you get a hydro we always recommend a new reg or a complete rebuild. A rebuild is usually more expensive then a new reg now a days.

Yeah, I had a feeling it would be something like that. I looked at the pricing for a new tank which I was going to get anyway, and all the local shops seem to sell 48/3K tanks for ~$79.99 CAD (Give or take 5 cents.) regardless of manufacturer. After market regulators seemed to be around $10 to 20 less then the whole tank. I am also assuming the cost on the hydro and reg swap was labour and does not include new reg.

It really does not seem cost effective, which is a shame really. It would be nice if one could use a tank more than just one cycle. I am still going to double check and see what the cost is for testing, but unless it's dirt cheap and I doubt it will be, it seems like I will just buy a new tank and leave it at that.

Re: HPA Tank Maintenance and Regulator Advice Needed.

Personally, I'm not gonna drop extra cash on the reg unless I am having issues with it. When I start having issues, then I will get an after market reg. You probably will pay more like that in labor to not do it all at the same time.

But yeah, its just about cheaper to get another 48/3000 tank for the price. Your local price is a bit high, but they do have to cross a border so that may bump the cost a little bit.

EDIT: Now NPB's other post made me think, if people did follw the manufacturers recommendation, then we might not have unknown people trying to fix the regs them self and getting hurt. If you do or dont, a trained air smith should be the only person working on your reg.
