Starting a new tank...

Well, my partner Vashthestampede and myself will be starting the build on a new Paintball Fighting Vehicle soon. Only problem is we need a base vehicle. We are going to be building it on a road vehicle. We are looking at pretty much any truck or SUV. I missed out on a 94 Bronco V8 4x4. I went and looked at it and called the guy the next morning to tell him I'd take it, but a guy came 30 minutes behind me and bought it on the spot.

When we finally get a vehicle we are backing way off of the realistic look from our last tank. The Bradley was just too difficult to fight do to limited clearance and extremly limited visibility for the driver and gunner. And being the driver, I didnt feel I could safely pilot it. Plus we are having a hard time keeping it running. We are basicly cutting our losses and giving it to the head of our teams Armored Detachment. He has the resources to get it going and fight it properly. Plus his driver is a mechanic.

We are basicly planning on armoring up our base vehicle and tossing a turret on top. It wont be as impressive visually but we believe we will be far more effective then with our current tank.

And this will actually be my third paintball armored fighting vehicle. This one will be more like the first built on a Kawasaki 3010 Trans 4x4, just built on a larger vehicle. The Kawasaki cost $9,000, and an old truck anywhere from $650 and up. You can figure the finances out on that one. We are working with a budget of around $1,600 for the vehicle. I dont really want to pay over $1,200 but we'll see how that works out.

We do have a few other OG players helping us out and crewing the new tank. High Tower will be helping us out with this one and crewing the tank as well. Fantastic Damage as always will be around. And I just know the DeadBox crew will be tagging the new tank with some DeadBox decals when I'm not looking! lol I'll have to get them to do a couple other decals for it as well. They do good work.

Re: Starting a new tank...

Hope to get it started soon. But as long as we get it finished before Fulda Gap in November, I will be happy.

Gotta call a guy about a 91 F150. 4x4 auto, 302. But he wants $1800, so we'll see if he take a bit lower on it. It'd be a good base vehicle.

Re: Starting a new tank...

$1500 is really the max I want to go. After that it starts cutting into the extra budget for building and arming it. Which I am doing fairly well with markers and launchers. Vash and Hightower both have Havok's so that takes care of a turret and foreward mounted AT. Vash has some barrel extinsions and I think HT is getting some. I need another Egrip to replace a fried one on one of my A5's and then we will be set on a double A5 set up with the near new egripped A5 I stumbled on to at the pawn shop for $100, and $40 for an extra Flat Line. We'll toss that one in the turret.

We can use my egripped 98 or TM7 for the bow gunner. I'd like to do a double set up there as well, and I happen to find a near new Comp Pro E with Cyclone for $140 at the pawn shop as well. So If I fix the Cyclone on my old 98, that would be a good set up for the passenger gunner.

Thought it was funny, the Comp Pro E is easier to use. The pawn shop couldnt figure out how to turn on the A5. lol Good luck for me that they didnt know anything about paintball.

Re: Starting a new tank...

Well, still flipping looking for a base vehicle. Found a 92 Explorer for under $900, looks like crap. But when I called and inquird on it, the four wheel drive doesnt work. Now 4x4 isnt an absolute, but my home field is in the foot hills of NC and I want to make sure I have no problem getting up our trails. I want to be able to get fully to the back side of our 65 plus acres.

Called about an 88 Jeep Cherokee but it was already sold. Found the perfect vehicle, 88 Suburban, four door, 4x4 but $2500 is more then I am gonna pay...

Anyway, I figure we should have something found and bought in the next two weeks or so.
