Best budget paint for a 98

I am new to Paintball and was wondering what people thought was the best paint for a 98? I am on a budget but sometimes if I can I will go higher priced if it is good for me.

Re: Best budget paint for a 98

being new to paintball, I'll go a little easier on you but the only real answer is:

"there's no such thing."

There's no one paintball, brand or style that's "best for a ________ marker" or even "barrel".......only "bad, better, best" paintballs in general.

You will get what you pay for, so if you only spend a couple bucks on paint, it's going to be horrible for you. This is not a recreation that is going to "cost a little" and if you go that route, you will be disappointed [or get hurt] in the haul.

Spend the few extra bucks and get a decent paint. Make your shots count, wear a good mask and for the love of God, CHRONOGRAPH your marker to less than 300fps.

Re: Best budget paint for a 98

I disagree with that. I've shot a lot of "budget" paint and in reality it'll work better for you since you're using a Tippmann. Higher-end paint is more brittle, and Tippmanns are rough of paint. It'll break in your gun a lot.

Empire Bullets has worked really well for me. Probably the best "budget" stuff I've used.

Re: Best budget paint for a 98

To be honest I am not worried about saving the money on the paint, but where I am there is not many place nearby to get it. I dont really want to have to spend a fortune in gas and top dollar for paint, but I also dont want to pay bottom dollar. I know I get what I pay for. I guess I am trying to find out what works good without getting tourny paint. Something reasonable for the money.

Sports Authority has DXS Midnight for $35. Midnight is a good paint, and it's only $5 more than the Walmart stuff.

Re: Best budget paint for a 98

Magmoor...In my own experience, I have my Ions [Stage 5, completely upgraded beasts], M98, 2 AutoMags, 68 Magnum, A5, Warp feeds, Halo, 12V Revvies, old version spyders and what I normally experience is that the cheaper the paint, the worse it is...lol.

The reason I speak to what markers i have is, they all react differently with the paint. My Angel and Ions were the "easiest" on paint...but I still had a lot of issues, even with Marbs [Marbs have always been the 'cheap' paint that hit like a reball...lol]. On the flip side, I've used [brittle] tournament paint in my 68 Magnum and Pro Classic Mag without a single issue.

jimmarc - The issue is more the 'freshness' of the paint. Any paint, good/bad, cheap/expensive...the most important factor is "how old is it? and How long has it been sitting on the shelf?"

Fields that go through a lot of paint means that it's likely to be more fresh than what's been sitting on WalMart's shelf. Also, paint needs to be rotated so it doesn't dimple. Walmart, Di[k's and Sports Authority aren't going to waste the time having stocking clerks turn the boxes. They replenish what's gone and walk away.

That brings us to field paint....and the reason it costs more is because that's how the field generates [the majority of ] it's income. They buy it in bulk at a low[er] cost and charge us out the whazzoo for it. That's how they keep the field[s] up and running.

Since cost is less an issue for you than others, I'd think that any mid-grade paint would serve you well. I like Marbs, Scorch [when and if I can find it...been quite a while], Evil...ehhhhhhh.....I have mixed opinions about it [regardless of 'type'], XO Camouflage and DXs is really decent.

If you are good about ordering yourself [and "rec" friends] bulk, there's always this:
