I just bought a model 98 with a flatline from a friend that is upgrading to something new. His loss my gain. This gun has seen better days but something to play with right :-)
Anyways Its an older gun with the flatline. I was searching tippmannparts.com for parts for it and came across this 98-61 Adapter for Flatline Barrels [98F].
Link on the post.

98-61 Adapter for Flatline Barrels [98F]
Part Number: 98-61 Some notes if you'll be installing this adapter on to a marker with the "older style" of barrel threads: First of all, you can check the F.A.Q. below to see if you have "older" threads on you gun. If you do you have the older threads, you will find that the adapter doesn't seem to thread in all the way. Leaving the adapter like that would put your Flatline barrel at an angle causing you to shoot curve balls instead of shooting farther. The adapter will work, it's just not the easiest thing to do. Make sure that the screws holding the 2 body halves are loosened. Not out, just loosened. Screw in the adapter as far as you can. After it stops take out the pinch bolt that will tighten on to the barrel. You can then use an allen wrench to go through the hole that the pinch bolt was in. Use that allen wrench to torque down the adapter. You should be able to get it to go the rest of the way at that point. Make sure when you're doing this that you don't mess up the threads for the pinch bolt. Keep the allen wrench on the side without threads to protect them. This should be all the info you need to get this barrel adapter, or any newer Flatline barrel adapter, to work on your "older" style of threads gun. |
My questions are:
1, with it torqued in all that way wont it still shoot off to one side?
2, can you add tape like you can with a loose barrel to have it seat better?
Thank you for any input!
