Opinions of the differences between the older and newer Flatline Barrels

i was given an older flatline barrel (missing the thread adapters) for free...

i heard the newer FL is less likely to break paint.

any opinions of the differences between the two barrels?????

should i bother getting the adapter or should i buy a newer FL????

believe it or not, i have zero experience with flatlines besides me shooting my friends older FL 5 years ago....

I do know that the newer flatline is shorter. A local shop owner told me that because of the difference in length the older ones actually have greater distances. I haven't found it to be true but I might be wrong.

I have shot both and I never had problems breaking paint in either.

Ive used the older 1, I don't recall having any breaks but I only shot around 100 or so balls through it..

Yeah i've heard that same thing before about the A5 FL and the old 98 FL. I've used both but never thought to do a comparison.
UMS use to sell the old 98 Fl modded to fit the A5. So if there's a demand for it, then I might be led to think there's some validity in the longer one being better.

The adapter is about 12 bucks plus shipping on tippmannparts, so at that price I figure ya might as well give it a shot, and see if you like it. I mean in the end your getting a flatline for practically nothing.

well....i was curious...now that i think about it, the newer plat. FL may not fit inside my shroud and i dont know if 'it's' shroud can be removed from the barrel....for this gun im planning, i'd like to be able to use different barrels besides the FL...so i guess i will order the adapter

any barrel will unscrew, and most shrouts (and I think FL included) will have some way of removing them, at least if its the one im thinking of which whenon the 98 makes it look along the lines of a SMG...

Re: Opinions of the differences between the older and newer Flatline Barrels

i used to own a new style flatline untill i sold it, i hated it. the new one is shorter than the old style so it has less distance, and less accuracy(my friend has the old style, we compared) the new flatline barrel is the same as the x7 and a5 i belive. personally i would go with the old style flatline, with hpa for sure
