| HOW-TO: Mod a FL to fit a Platinum marker Some of you may remember I encountered an issue a while ago, I'd (not knowing any better) bought a non-plat FL, and a 98c Platinum. Well, I finally got around to modding it to fit. It actually worked really well. Here's how: 1) You may have noticed that the feed elbow release catch (aka, foresight) is permanently pressed down slightly due to dimensional differences of the plat marker. Thus, first thing to do is to shorten the grommet halves that surround the button bit. I used a Leatherman, and the a Stanley knife to clean it up a bit. Although largely just because I remembered I had the Stanley - with 20/20 hindsight, I think you'd be better off using the Stanley from the outset. A few mm will do. ![]() ![]() 2) Next, hack the rear off - with a hack saw. I went just slightly rear of the rear-most screw -so that it would retain as tight a fit as possible. ![]() 3) Then file it down, or sand, or do whatever you want to finish the end. I used the Stanley again - just because with plastic, it get's a more deliberate looking finish. The picture below is a sort of half done - I didn't get a shot when I finished, sorry. ![]() 4) Admire your work thus far. ![]() 5) Refit to your 98 Platinum marker, and be glad that: -- a) Your shroud now fits, and doesn't look shoddy or hacked in to place. -- b) You now have some Picatinny on show, or to use, or whatever. ![]() That's all folks! Nice and easy; brilliantly effective. I haven't test-fired, but I don't feel the need. The mod does not include anything that could possibly impede the marker's ability to discharge a ball of paint.
