| VL Force Hopper Mod Hey guys just thought I'd show you a mod I did on my friend's 98 the other day. I had borrowed his 98 with RT to use just for a change, and noticed a major problem. He was using a VL Force hopper, which if you didn't know, is a continuous feed hopper. After its on, its on until you press the button to turn it off. This proved very difficult to operate with, as if the hopper was left on for too long, paint would begin to break. I found a solution. I'll break it down in steps since I don't have pictures of each operation. I opened up the hopper, and quickly found the circuit board which controlled the on/off button function. On the board was a plug which would be used if it was a model that used eyes. I simply pulled out the bypass plug which was in the port, and soldered two wires to the posts on the opposite side of the board. I ran them out the back of the hopper, with about 2 extra feet of wire, and closed the hopper back up, put it in the feedneck, and clamped it down. I then held the marker as if I would be shooting it, and found the area in which my ring finger rested on the grip. I marked this area with a sharpie. Removing the grip, I flipped it over and carefully cut out a small hole where I had marked. I cut out some more of the grip to make room for a tactile switch, which I glued into place. I then took the wires from the hopper and ran them around the marker to the grip, where I cut off the excess wire, and then soldered the wires to the posts on the tactile switch. With that done, I screwed the grip back onto the frame of the marker. Pushing the switch on the hopper did nothing, which was a sign of success. Pushing the tactile switch promptly brought the hopper to life. Now any time that I need the hopper to run, I simply hold down the tactile switch. This is significantly better, and remedies my problems for free. (I had the components lying around the house) Picture Link : http://snipurl.com/tetga Last edited by Krussk : 07-31-2010 at 03:05 AM. |
