Otherwise, just get the cheap electro hopper that's quite efficient (Ricochet, hint, hint.)

Though, it's really up to the user whether it's worth it or not. If it's only $10 I see no harm in getting it. Anymore than $15 is just a rip off in my opinion. But then again, that's just me.

I agree with the Ricochet statement, it does get the job done quite nicely for the price. I don't think you can buy the model I have anywhere anymore, but I had the Ricochet Apache (LED, not the LCD screen version). I have since given it to my little bro for his Alpha Black Tactical, but it used a "tape" sensor so everytime you fired, a ball would drop and move the tape sensor and it would spin the rotor. It was an agitation style rotor, not a forcefeed, which was its only major flaw. But it was very nice for the $35 I spent. It also had these clear windows where you could see how much paint was left. The only mod I did to this loader is add a neoprene lining since there was a lot of rattle due to the hard plastics. I would highly recommend it if you could find one. My bro still uses it even today. Its the one in my avatar pic since I haven't updated my pic.

they all can be shutoff if you are into modding...

a small switch and some wires... you can either set it up where you can activate it with your thumb or have your trigger bump it... then it would spin....

but yeah... go with what works for ya.. i played once at a field with a rental 98c and had to do the shake and fire TOOOOOO much... so now i got a cyclone (dont want batteries) and im glad i did.. shot a case of paint target practicing, adjusting and plane showing off to my friends with mega $$$$ markers.... i dont have to shake anymore... can even fire straight up where a gravity hopper will have problems with......

Yeah I enjoy my cyclone as well. Super RT and modded cyclones are too much fun with a 98!

Re: Proto Primo vs Tippmann Stock Hopper

I dislike the cyclone on my x7. sometimes is jams up with deformed paint. I once broke a ratchet in it, and I had to borrow my friends model 98(which got me hooked on the 98 btw.) and ofcourse it stops when you are low on air. I really like my tacamo hopper (the one that does the same thing as this one.)

Re: Proto Primo vs Tippmann Stock Hopper

I have a couple Tacamos. My response equipped 98 is set at 8 or 9 balls per second. No feed problems at all. 10 quid sounds high though, shop around some more.

Look for a used halo. They go for really cheap now and are great hoppers.

I will second that one! I picked up a used Halo on Ebay for my Etek and it might be scratched up a bit, but it is a very nice loader. I have since rewired it to run off of two 9 volt batteries rather than six AA batteries. Might buy a new shell sometime that splits in half horizontally rather than vertically for easier cleaning and better looks.

I have never had a cyclone problem though. Even on low air. If you buy the QEV for the cyclone, that should really help you out when you get low air.

Re: Proto Primo vs Tippmann Stock Hopper

Are those electronic feed hoppers heavy? because they look akward as hell.. Also i would go with the tippmann stock because you could get a deformed ball and a full ball of paint on the proto hopper, it would jam.

Re: Proto Primo vs Tippmann Stock Hopper

My Halo isn't bad at all. And with the rip drive, if you get a jam you just spin the wheel backwards and it unjams. I never had to do it in a match yet, but it works and its nice knowing its there. I think mine is good for around 25 bps.

Re: Proto Primo vs Tippmann Stock Hopper

I have a proto primo and it works very well. I mostly play pump (I have a 98 I play with as well, pics to follow), a CCM T2. At the UWL in Nevada a couple of weeks ago, we slapped the primo on an invert mini, and it held it's own. It needed a shake once in a while, but it mostly kept up on semi with fast fingers.

I would say it is much better than the stock hopper, and worth the money. It does have more of a tournament look, but it is really light, and works great.
