Question Proto Primo vs Tippmann Stock Hopper

Hi guys, was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the Proto Primo loader. I'm not particularly interested in getting a motorised hopper, but if a £10 thing can improve flow a bit compared to the stock Tippmann one I have (that came with 98c), then I'd be willing to fork out.

It seems to me that for the most part the balls flow quite freely from the stock hopper - does this proto thing actually improve things at all?

Lemme hear it! Tx

Re: Proto Primo vs Tippmann Stock Hopper

I noticed in one of the last frames it mentioned "minimal" shaking with 15 balls or less. Heck, I needed minimum shaking with my hopper and it came with my marker. I suppose if you want to spend 10 quid to upgrade, go ahead. (Sweet, I got to use quid! Too much Top Gear) Anyway...It really isn't that much. I, personally, got tired of having to shake my gun so I went with a Cyclone. And, no batteries... Just goes dead when the air gets low.

Hi duck,

Yeah, I don't have to shake that much as it is. I am quite intrigued by the cyclone but I'm not sure I need something like that yet... it also seems to require a bit of work to get set up on the 98c.

Only other advantage of the Primo is that it looks a bit nicer than the stock hopper...

Re: Proto Primo vs Tippmann Stock Hopper

I'm a low profile fan myself. I prefer the hopper to be the least visible part of my marker. With the Cyclone, it gives you the option of a low profile hopper or even the stack-able Tac-Caps.

Here's a picture of mine for reference. I even painted my hopper camo because it is one of the most visible parts of the marker. However, if you speed ball, the hopper size doesn't matter. Nor the shaking, especially all that running around...

I just played with a guy yesturday at Gotcha Big Game that had one. I wouldnt put it on an electric gun but this thing kept up with his AB just great. Never saw him shaking or anything. Id say go for it.

Re: Proto Primo vs Tippmann Stock Hopper

You know, this idea is a rip off of a forum member I know from Milsimempire who came up with the design orginally. The only thing they changed was the look of it. Although I do like the idea of that hopper but for me, it's not worth it. Works like any other gravity hopper but allowing the balls to flow more smoothly. Otherwise, just get the cheap electro hopper that's quite efficient (Ricochet, hint, hint.)

Though, it's really up to the user whether it's worth it or not. If it's only $10 I see no harm in getting it. Anymore than $15 is just a rip off in my opinion. But then again, that's just me.

I got the tacamo version. it does the same thing it just looks more woodball ish. and the way mine is shapped it clears my line of sight so it is easier to use my reddot. mine is rated for 11.6bps. I wonder how fast that one is rated(I find it suspicious that it didn't say. )

Haha. It's looks just like a rotor, which would make since, since proto and dye are the same company. Buy it and give it a try.

Re: Proto Primo vs Tippmann Stock Hopper

Awesome marker Duck, I remember seeing it in another thread. One of the nicest mods I've seen.

I definitely like the low-profile of the cyclone hopper, also the fact that due to its placement it's a bit further off to the right, giving you better LoS.

The thing I don't like about most electric hoppers... most are pretty big, and they're a bit noisy.
