Project Lancer Camera Hopper

Whats up operators,

As you can see in my other thread,( http://www.98og.net/98-mods-upgrades...completed.html ) I have taken a break from upgrading my 98 custom.

But since Im taking a break from my 98, I now have more time to work on a new project, named Project Lancer.

The idea of the project is to install a camera into a standard gravity feed hopper, so that I can record my paintball games.

Here is the camera that I will be using. It is a Sony Bloggie, which was designed to take videos more than pictures. It is rather slim and has a swivel lense which allows for more freedom when planning the project.

And here is the hopper I will be using. I got it for $6 from Walmart, it is a Visible Impact standard gravity feed hopper.

So there are the two main parts, and Im gonna go get to work. I got some great ideas for this project. Please follow my progress and tell me what you think.

Proect Lancer

Okay, here it is so far.... I used a band saw and and an exacto knife to cut these holes. The camera is going to sit at the top of the hopper with the lense pointing straight out of the peak of the hopper. The small hole is for the lense, while the large hole on top of the hopper will allow me to see the screen of the camera.

Here are some pics of the rough cuts

Re: Project Lancer Camera Hopper

looks good so far. How durable is the camera? could it take a direct hit? you gotta be careful people have a tendency to shoot the hopper and Id hate to see your camera get ruined because of a Hop shot

Re: Project Lancer Camera Hopper

The lense that pokes out will be strong enough to take a hit, and I will cut a Ziplock bag to put over the lense so that paint or water cant get into the lense.

Re: Project Lancer Camera Hopper

Here are some pictures of me trying to fit the camera inside the hopper....The camera fits snug at the top of the hopper, but I will need to think of a way to secure the camera on the inside. You can see that the lense fits into the hole nicely. The screen can be easily seen through the top.

Re: Project Lancer Camera Hopper

I wanted to cover the top hole so that the hopper is enclosed, that way the camera's screen doesnt get scratched. I cut a rectangle of semi-see-through plastic, (I cut it out of a tuppeware dish). I then cut four slits into the hopper. The clear plastic wedges tight into the hopper, but wont move. I didnt permanantly attach the plastic otherwise I couldnt take the hopper apart when I need to. Here are the pictures.

Re: Project Lancer Camera Hopper

Okay, so now I removed the clear plastic and set it aside, I used a knife to cut several tiny holes into the hopper (dont get mixed up with the original screw holes). The tiny holes are for me to control the camera when it is in the hopper.

Then I sanded the whole hopper. Then I taped over the holes so no spray paint gets inside the hopper. I took the hopper into the basement, and spray painted it. I painted it a two-tone, woodland camo.

Here are the PICTURES
