Tacamo Mag Fed Conversion

I could be wrong, but I haven't seen a thread here on the 98OG site yet. How many of us are eagerly awaiting the Tacamo Mag Conversion Kit for the 98? I know for one that I am, I already have the pre-order in with 3 mags included!

http://tacamopaintball.com/mag-fed-conversion-kit

From the Tacamo website:

Tacamo respects your love for the Tippmann® 98®…and your desire to try out the hot new magazine-only game formats, like at “Operation: End War,” and an increasing number of events across the country. When you want to get that hopper out of your way, open up your field of vision, improve the balance and natural point of aim of your marker, and get rocking with a true mil-sim piece that not only looks but also reloads and points the same as the real thing, you need the Tacamo Magazine Conversion Kit.

It works with the Tippmann® 98® you already own—that’s the beauty of this revolutionary aftermarket accessory.

Disassemble your Tippmann® 98®, and follow the included instructions to transfer the internal parts to the Tacamo Magazine Conversion Kit. After assembly, you’ll have a marker that retains the heart and soul of the Tippmann® 98® you know and love, but accepts detachable magazines instead of ugly, noisy, bulky hoppers.

Then you can rock 20 rounds at a time, making every shot count like a pump player…but relying on the semi-auto firepower of your trusted marker, and the spring-fed reliability (a ball in the chamber every time—no matter the rate of fire, or angle of the marker) of the RAP4 magazine.

Tacamo’s engineers have been working on this kit for a long time, getting the compatibility perfect…and then focusing on the aesthetics outside. The Tippmann ® 98® Magazine Conversion Kit retains the original marker’s ergonomics, but updates the aesthetic slightly with a Magpul-inspired magazine housing in front of the trigger guard. Trick out your newly reconfigured Tippmann® 98® with tactical rails, collapsible stock—all the accessories you already own, or, get some new ones to complete the look—and you can build a magazine-fed M4, or other real world –inspired tactical marker!

If you want the advantages and aesthetics of a magazine fed marker, but without sacrificing the onboard paint capacity of a hopper, pick up a RAP4 Box Magazine and put 250 balls onboard your marker.

When you’re serious about woodsball, mil-sim, looking authentic or just having fun, you need to take your Tippmann® 98® to the next level with Tacamo!

Key Features Include:
- Enables you to accept RAP4 Interchangeable Magazines
- Improve handling, balance, natural point of aim
- All necessary parts for conversion are included
- You can still use your hopper when you need to
- Completely replaces the body panels of your marker
- Retain and use the marker’s internal parts and most accessories
- Opens up your field of view
- Breathe new life into old designs
- Designed to enhance the aesthetics of your chosen marker
- Takes you to a whole new level of tactical paintball!

This kit includes:
- 1 x Magazine Conversion Kit
- 1 x 20 Rounds Magazine

Re: Tacamo Mag Conversion

I would love to own one just to own one, but even then I 'd be cautious about doing it. I'd probably go buy a good condition 98 because I'm not messing up my baby.
The only problem with the magazines is they warn you not to fire the T68's too fast otherwise you'll get ball break and when you're shooting everyone gets a lil trigger happy but if you have self control I think you'd be good.
Outta curiousity, why didn't you go with the 250 box mag instead?
And does anyone know about the possible lawsuit from tippmann concerning these conversion kits?

Re: Tacamo Mag Conversion

I wanted to convert and challenge myself more to the pump player mindset, thats why I went with this kit and the 20 round mags. Plus, I will always be more comfortable with a rifle type marker rather than your typical pump guns which are more of a pump shotgun feel without the stock. I NEED a stock in order to feel comfortable with a gun.

What lawsuit? I don't really see why there would be one, you still need to buy a Tippmann to do the kit, or at least the parts.

Re: Tacamo Mag Conversion

Ok, I can understand wanting the challenge. =]
And if i can recall what my teammate said correctly, it is because this isnt a quick body kit you just install over your gun's current body, they actually have to machine a part of it and then throw it on.

Re: Tacamo Mag Conversion

nope, all this kit is are the recievers, you have to already own a tippmann marker, because this is a "drop in kit" you have to take the parts out of your tippmann marker (internals) then transfer the internal parts TO this kit, this will NOT fit over the tippmann marker body, nor will it modify the tippmann marker its self, you will have to either buy the internal parts (say from tippmannparts.com) or buy the actual tippmann marker its self then take the internals out of that and transplant them into the empty receiver halves...this is in no way a complete marker by any means...

I like the mag feed idea a lot, but I'm more than a little turned off by the fact that spare mags are 40 bucks a piece. That's a bit too much for me.

True, but how much are you willing to spend on a cyclone upgrade or a decent electro hopper setup? I bet ya thats a few mags worth right there. Its not like you really need a heaping pile of mags, its not like your gonna be shooting like a bat out of hell. And you could always carry a spare pod on you to reload a mag when things are quiet.

I agree especially for only 18 rounds. Not to worry dude-you won't need so many if you buy the 250 box mag. Two of those and you'll be outta air unless you're using a 4500 air tank or looking for challenge and want to stick with the mags like wolf

What really blows is that the box mag is going for $140 or something crazy like that. I don't think that many will be sold unless they give you two for that price!
