fog wipes

I was told about some fog wipes that scuba divers are using to wipe fog off their masks while submerged. All they are are magnets that have silicon on them and you put one inside the mask and the other outside. The idea is to move the outer magnet which in turn moves the inner magnet wiping the fog. The magnets cost $10 for one set online. I made two sets for $6.50 by going to Wal-mart and getting magnets and some craft foam with adhesive on the back. Me and another guy used them this past weekend and he said it worked great. I had put Barbasol shave cream on my mask and it didn't fog up at all. I started to use the felt pads you can put on the bottoms of lamps, but I was afraid that dirt would get in their and scratch the lens. This may be a cheap alternative to themal lenses.

Re: fog wipes

We play woodsball and I weigh in at nearly 300lbs if that gives you an indicator of the amount of fog I generate! LOL My mask usually drips condensation...FogTech is by far the best anti fog wipe I have used. I wiped down my mask inside and out before first play last year and went through 4 game days with very little to no fog before having to redo it.

Re: fog wipes

Oh and if you go to FogTech's website you can fill out a form to receive free sample wipes. I got 5 last year and one wipe is good for roughly 3-4 masks. I told them my business name was Desertion Fields Paintball and was looking for a good anti-fog.

Re: fog wipes

Sounds like an interesting product. What type of mask are your using? I've had better luck upgrading to a better mask than using anti fog products.

Re: fog wipes

Rare earth magnets with a felt pad on them.....That would seem pretty easy and work pretty well. Their small enough to be away from your face and strong enough to hold while running.
