Re: The tale of 2 Milsigs

flip up front sight is 95% done...i just need to make the release button (5 mins on a lathe) and drill 2 holes on the barrel block

after mounting the ACOG sight to mock up the height, we discovered she weighted a ton, time to hallow out that top rail even more. also, i did use an AR-15 carry handle to "mock" the height since i'm making a new picattiny riser block for the sight...but i can't really cut any weight from anywhere else besides the rail...

rear sight appature hole has been drilled out from 1.2 mm to 3.5mm...possibly useful now for paintball

i'm taking my camera into work tomorrow so i can upload some pics...

Re: The tale of 2 Milsigs

PICTURE HEAVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

last mock up

close up of the flash hider i made and the barrel block after op 1 on the cnc

and all these pictures i took just now at work as she stands will the completed front sight, rail, and new name plate.

theres nothing clamping to the barrel on the barrel block, its bolted into the 416 shroud

the front sight DOES positively lock in the up right position, push button to release it....

this gun is starting to make me hot and hor...... happy....yes..

Re: The tale of 2 Milsigs

thanks guys

anywho, I got the shims done for the HE grip...its fully functional

sad its all i got done today...its 4 in the morning here, still working....working till 6 probably to get this job setup and running for the morning shift...those shims only took 5 mins to make out of my busy day.....

15 hour shift, meh...

edit-FYI,...even though the milsig is based on the A5 and take an A5 grip, theres nothing holding the safety on the a5 grip (a milsig grip cannot go onto an a5 receiver) so shims, one with a 0.25 inch slot and another with a 0.187 inch slot in the other to hold the safety...the two shims need to be 0.125 thick

a stock mech a5 grip WILL NOT work on a milsig
