Talking My First Mag! (Restoration)

EDIT: I have updated this thread

Here was my original post:
Quote:
This little fellow is now under my wings. I have noticed so many great Automags on the OGs, that I have now decided to give them a try. I have alot to learn about Automags, but I had to start somewhere. I picked up this marker, and everything with it, off Craigslist for $140. I figured it was not a bad deal at all. It has a Lab Hurrican reg housing on it, but the guy still has the original in the parts bag. I guess it also has an upgraded bolt. This marker is old-school. The main tube and marker assembly is pretty dirty but in decent shape, but the grip's paint is in pretty rough condition. This is going to be my project for quite a while, time to give it some love and care.
Along with that post were some pictures of what the Automag looked like when I got it from the seller.

When I purchased the Mag, I knew it would need alot of work. So this is what I have done.

-Cleaned, polished, and maintained the internals. Which included replacing a few seals and o-rings.
-Replaced the Hurricane reg housing back to the original housing.
-Polished the bolt, replaced bolt spring, and added bolt ball cushion.
-Lightly polished the body tube with brillio pad and steel wool.
-Heavily sanded then polished the rail, grip frame, and vertical adapter.
-Cleaned and polished the trigger assembly.
-Replaced the CO2 X-Chamber with a chrome vertical grip (The grip was salvaged of an old PMI Pirahna)
-Replaced the duck-bill asa with a chrome on/off asa with pressure gauge.
-Replaced steel braided air line with macroline fittings.
-Cleaned the grips, screws and all other odd parts.
-Cleaned, swabbed, and buffed the barrels.

I am very pleased with the results, and I learned everything about the gun inside and out. (With the help of many Tom Kaye instructional videos online). I believe I am going to keep this Mag in a "classic" setup, just because I think that its simplicity is its beauty.

So I decided to document the marker's restoration with these Before/After pictures......... Enjoy!

Props for getting an Automag- one of the few guns that hasn't popped up in my bag. ;D

Sick!!! Looks like it will be a fun project. Are you going to polish the body or anodize it?
