| Re: sp-8 with options and upgrades theres no real advantage to a bigger marker. an invert mini is made as a speedball gun but can be used for woodsball, and will work just aswell, in my opinion the thing that makes a woodsball gun a woodsball gun is the option to make it a misim marker. i would suggest kepping your 98 for awhile, play with it and find out your playing style, then decide what kind of marker you want ![]()

| Re: sp-8 with options and upgrades agreed! I had a freakin' huge mil-sim marker (X7 with a Dragunov-ish mod). It's cool to cary around for a while, then it gets heavy. It's cool to have a bunch of people gather around an check out your cool marker. But there's more to it than that. I mean, if big markers are your thing, then great. But maybe you want something lighter and more maneuverable. Maybe you want something that's a little easier on air. Maybe a pump to help conserve air AND paint.... The list goes on. The only way to find out is to play with what you got for a while and figure it out.

| Re: sp-8 with options and upgrades i agree.. i will go play out there with what i got.. i just always liked the SP-8.. but needed confirmation that the sp-8 wasnt anything great.. so I know that pb is mainly the skill of the person... plus equipment... This is a 98 site so good info up here... im only looking at playing maybe 4 times a year... and even if i buy something else later.. my 98 goes to my 9yr old.... is there a huge difference between say a mini and a 98c? actual performance wise? like i said.. my bro in law went from a a-5 to a mini and he said it was a world of difference... I know the 98c is considered as a entry level.. but is it anywhat accurage playing against these other guys? few of us that will be getting together consist of.. 1 - 98 1 - 98c 1 - a-5 1 - bt4 2 - invert mini 1 - automag 1 - ego -echo - whatever it is.. :P 1 - ooooold school autococker guess ill just order up my cyclone feeder for the 98c to go with my rt..... and have 2 hoppers... 1 for speedball (cut down) and 1 for woodsball |

| Re: sp-8 with options and upgrades If you decide on an SP-8, they can run from about $150-200 used depending on what upgrades are on it. Last one I saw on eBay didn't sell and was listed at $150. There was a guy locally that had one up for $250. I had him cut down to $225 and it came with the extended shroud. ![]() |

| Re: sp-8 with options and upgrades I own an SP8 myself and have been owners of 5 of them during my paintball life. That's owning 1.2 of them each year. LOL SP8 is basically the same as an Ion so it's just an Ion with a milsim shell on top. Though, this was the first introduction of an electro-pneumatic marker into the Milsim scene. There are some pros and cons with the SP8 but you'd have to hold it to figure out yourself whether it's for you or not. As for me, I love the damn thing. Every time I got rid of it, I wanted it back. LOL So now I have one and will never sell ever again. She's running very, very, very nice right now with all the upgrades on it. Though I'm having to do some modifications here and there for a project that I'm working on. That's still secret until the day it has shown good performance during its test run. That may not even be for a couple more months yet. :P Who knows. Mini are very nice markers. Some say maintenance is a pain but for me, it's just better than my Ion which I have to take apart if I have the first generation one while it's just as easy if its an XE version (Bolt out back). Marker doesn't make a player better, only the player makes the marker as good as it it. That is my experience with owning so many different markers in just the 4 years alone. I can't recall exactly how many I went through but I know I've been through a LOT!. LOL

| Re: sp-8 with options and upgrades Reasons to own a marker like that? Intimidation. I mean, maybe you don't find all those milsim guns all scary, but those new guys and the field renters do and a few in between also. I've had people tell me they were afraid of me on the field because of my gun and my ACU. I think people like that just over react. But everyone needs to own a milsim gun. Just something to stare at, at the least. And I hear good things of the SP-8's performance. |

| Re: sp-8 with options and upgrades You can upgrade the SP8 very much like the Ion mate. My SP8 is decked out and performs flawlessly so far. Just haven't had a chance to field test it. Waiting for my boxmag project to be completed which could take another month or so or I might just scratch build it since I already have the internals. The SP8, to me, just has a nice "feel" to it unlike other markers. I don't know if its just me or not since others for some reason think that the feel is wrong. Either way, I like it and if no one likes it, well, they can have the fury of the crazy beast. LOL You'll definitely love the Q-loaded SP8. I've ran that system and holy crap! It really does fly fast, those 100 rounds. Nice thing is, once you're use to the Q-loader, you can reload very quickly. Also, the profile is greatly reduced so you don't have that huge hopper sitting on top. Looks like I got invited again and I'll be doing some field tests on it. Hopefully I'll get some action video out of it so you have an idea of what you're gettin' into mate.

| Re: sp-8 with options and upgrades I really like my sp8 but when i first started using it it took some getting used to. The body on it was much more squarish and way different from the x7 setup i was running at the time. As far as mini maintenance being a pain if you take out 1 screw at the rear of the marker you can get your valve and bolt out. After those are out the only parts left inside are the electronics (board and eyes) the solenoid and the air transfer tubes. It is by far the easiest marker i have ever taken apart and it preforms great out of the box. Put it this way i bought my first mini (my first space gun) and within a month i had another. The only down side is it eats batteries but its pretty good on air so its a toss up
