Ok guys first off I haven't visited 98og in a while probably because paintball pretty much went on pause for me for like 4 months and I've been budgeting (this site gives me ideas that make me wanna spend money). But I missed you all during my absence the field is filled with new players every weekend and I'm antsy again.

So I finally think I know where I wanna go with my gun and for good this time. I'm going for the M4 Carbine. I currently have salvo receivers, M4 6P stock and alpha black mag (cyclone x7 hopper). SO just need the barrel setup.

I have the CP tactical pro 18" with the cool AR-15/M4 shroud. Deal is, 18" is terribly long and also M4's have a 14.5" barrel length. I want to use this shroud (spent enough on it and would be cost effective just to get a shorter CP barrel) but i find that I despise the .689 bore or the CP barrel compared to my standard Lapco .690 bigshot. I feel that even thou the fps of the ball leaving the barrel is the same on both i get better range, grouping and consistency with the .690 bore. So for me to use the lapco I would now have to go get a $60 shroud which probably will only be about 7" long and not 10" like the one I currently have. I want to get the 14" CP tactical but I hate the bore so I was curious about the next size up which is .693.

I live in the Bahamas and use RPS Stingers. They handle the climate well and once I dont leave the bags open they dont dimple or stick or anything like that. Do you all think the .693 will be to big compared to my preferred .690 and have great negative affect on accuracy and other areas of performance?

I dont know what the bore size is on the stock US army 11" barrels but they seem to get amazing range maybe they are near .693 if anyone knows.

By the way the specific look Im going for is the M4 thats held my the solider in the main image for the new battlefield 3 game with the suppressor extending right from the end of the shroud.

I got a 8 inch aluminum shroud from ultimate paintball for 15 bucks shipped.get that then buy an apex 2 14 in barrel and that will complete your look imo. I use my apex with Stingers and have zero problems even with dimpled ones.

Lapco 10" assault .690 + Apex tip adapter + Apex 2 + Metadyne RIS floating handguard is a perfect combination for what you are looking to get.

I have the exact set up and it looks great. It is a bit pricey and it is hard to find the Metadyne RIS with 98 threads but it was worth it to me.

Very nice. Your advice got me to thinking and Ive liked what I came up with. How exactly does the Metadyne Shroud work with the 98? I know the shroud is supposedly independent from the barrel. And where might be a good place to purchase one?

doesn't he metadyne one screw into the marker then the barrel screws into the shroud?

yea it does. someone messaged me about it. Makes you wonder what the bore is of the shroud and how it effect if it does performancre.
