| OK DDay 09 - Allied Recruitment Thread A word from the Field Promoter: Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force! You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world. Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped, and battle-hardened. He will fight savagely. But this is the year 1944! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to Victory! I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory!Good Luck! And let us all beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking. General Dwight Eisenhower, Supreme Allied Commander Addressing the Allied Forces on the eve of D-Day --------------- A history reminder: On June 6th, 1944, the Allied Infantry and Armored Units battled their way ashore into Normandy face-to-face against the fierce resistance of the German defenders that manned the Atlantic Wall, Germany's first line of defense on the western border of "Fortress Europe." Breaching the Atlantic Wall on D-Day and gaining a foothold in occupied Europe was an all or nothing gamble. If the Allies succeeded, then they would be established in western Europe and the liberation of the occupied territories could begin. If they failed, it would have been nothing short of a catastrophe, prolonging the bitter fighting, or changing the outcome of the war entirely. The largest amphibious invasion in the history of warfare began in the early morning hours of June 6th, 1944. The outcome of that operation, codenamed "Overlord," would change the face of the world forever. Young men from many nations began this great undertaking as a single determined force. They came from the sky, they came from the sea, they fought in the air, they battled on the water. What many of them faced when they finally arrived can only be described as total chaos and terror. The beaches of Normandy had been long prepared for an Allied invasion by the German defenders, and the young men serving the Allied forces had no choice but to wade into the terrifying defenses headlong and fight to the end. Their bravery, valor, and sacrifice made an Allied victory on that day possible, and set into motion the liberation of Europe, laying the most significant building blocks that would build the end of WWII. This was a generation of brave young men that did no less than save the world. We honor their memory at Oklahoma D-Day through the units represented on the field of play. ---------------- Join the Allies and help defeat the German influence! ![]() Click the banner above YouTube - Commonwealth Expedtionary Force Since its inception, the Commonwealth Expeditionary Force has continuously distinguished itself as one of the most aggressive, capable, and formidable formations in the Allied armies. | Re: OK DDay 09 - Allied Recruitment Thread Are you thinking of giving D-Day 2009 a try? Are you a returning veteran of the game looking for a different challenge? If either applies, I have just the ticket! GO AIRBORNE! The 82nd ABN has undergone lots of changes for the '09 game. The 505th PIR is one regiment within the 82nd that has been reformed from the top down. We need people to fill positions from Company Commanders all the way down the chain to the lowest private. Do you have leadership experience? We have a place for you. New to the game and just want a challenge? We have a place for you as well. The airborne units cover a lot of ground on game day. We engage the opposition in just about every type of terrain you can think of. Thick forest with steep slopes and deep valleys, urban areas, and open fields. We run and gun hard all day long. During the week for those who can come a few days early, we train together, and practice what we learn in mini-scenarios. We learn to work as a team. Sound like fun? Is this the type of challenge you are looking for? For more information check out the 82nd ABN website http://www.us82ndairbornedivision.com/ . Or you can contact me directly at Ghost@rrt-paintball.com . We need good players! The 505th wants to here from you!!

| Re: OK DDay 09 - Allied Recruitment Thread ![]() ![]() Gents and ladies, if you're wanting to roll to DDay this year either by yourself or with friends, the 82nd is looking for a few good mud stompin, paint slingin, door kickin, no name takin, sit around a camp fire eatin, gas producing, all around good people. Whether you go allied or german, I absolutely guarantee you and your buddies are going to have a blast down in Okie come June. There is no other pball experience like this. Between the 4,000 players, 700 acres, good friends, a camp fire, and lots of delicious frozen chimichangas, you're talking about pball heaven. When it comes to deciding which unit to join and run with, I'm pretty partial to the 82nd myself. It's tough to beat the brotherhood you find with the AAs. Every year Muddy considers who we're going to play for and every year (thus far) we have decided to come back to the 82nd. There are plenty of top notch units on both sides of the field, but it is the people within the 82nd that keep bringing us back year after year. To these guys, there are two simple reasons for coming to DDay: have fun camping with friends, and have fun playing paintball with friends. It doesn't get any better than the basics. As for the action you'd see running 82nd: we are priviliged to that wonderful "mis-drop". Airborne gets dropped in the boonies, we have to make our way through enemy occupied territory, pushing through ambushes and counter-attacks just to get to our objectives in the first place (which then require a good delivering of a mud stomping to the Germans currently holding said property). If you go airborne, in any unit, one thing is for certain: be in shape. We're fast movers. Hit and Run. We have to cover a lot of territory in a short amount of time. It requires some endurance, a desire to play aggressive all out pball, and a hunger for engaging some of the finest units the German army has to throw at us. I have nothing but the utmost respect for our German counter parts, but of course I love playing against them as well. Some of the finest pballers I have seen in the woodsball community, trying to break up the airborne advance before we can reach our objectives and deliver the allied cavalry. One thing is for certain though, once the airborne arrive, there's a thumpin coming with it. We already have a solid group of core vets returning to the AAs. We're currently looking for individuals players and small teams who are new to the DDay experience. Vets bring stability, new blood brings passion. If you and your friends are hard chargin, fun lovin, and in decent shape, the 82nd would love to have you. For those looking for a heavier challenge than your average woodsballer receives at DDay, the 82nd's specialty unit (the Pathfinders) offer such an experience. Pathfinders are dropped as a small team inside enemy territory and are tasked with engaging German units much larger in size. Last year, they were sent in to hold the Valley of Death with the French against the various German regiments and tank divisions. Small unit tactics at its finest. The Pathfinders are the very essence of fast moving and hard hitting. The airborne already requires an age limit of 15 just so you can keep up, it is a demanding journey through the German occupied woods...the Pathfinders will ask even from you. This rag tag group of airborne brothers and sisters is almost full, but there is still room for a handful of individuals or a team who is looking for the ultimate challenge at DDay. If this sounds like your style of play, then let us know. We'd love to have you and your friends running with us. Whichever road you take, German or Allied, you will not regret it. A chance to do some camping in the summer with some of the finest people you will ever meet, grilling out brauts, sitting around a campfire, and paint slinging with your buddies. Life is good. Welcome to DDay. __________________ Hoot. Muddy Water Boys. Team Leader "Not the victory but the action; Not the goal but the game; In the deed the glory"

| Re: OK DDay 09 - Allied Recruitment Thread The 1st Infantry Division, in early 1944, was one of the U.S. Army's most experienced and battle-tested infantry divisions. The 1st (or Big Red One from their distinctive insignia) had fought and distinguished itself in North Africa and Sicily during 1942 and 1943, as part of the Allied attack in the Mediterranean Theater. On D-Day morning, the 16th and 116th RCT’s made the first landings. The 16th Regiment came ashore on the eastern sectors of the beach (subsectors Easy Red and Fox Green) at about 0630 on D-Day with the 116th Regiment on its right. The assault units on Omaha Beach immediately ran into intense and devastating fire from the German forces on the high bluffs which dominated the entire beach. Casualties in the initial assault wave were high, and it appeared the assault might flounder. On the beach, men were confused and many of the junior and senior officers had been killed or wounded. Colonel George Taylor, 16th Regimental commander, saw men bunched up taking casualties from artillery and mortar fire. He exhorted his troops: "Two kinds of people are staying on this beach, the dead and those who are going to die. Now, let's get the hell out of here." Slowly, troops began to move and force their way up a draw through a mine field to the bluffs beyond. The "Big Red One" still had plenty of resistance to deal with, but by the end of the day, it had helped secure a hold on "Fortress Europe." The devastation on "Bloody Omaha" was appalling, but the 1st Infantry Division, together with the other units on Omaha Beach, had done their job. The success of Operation Overlord had been assured. Returning members of the 1st Infantry Division would like to invite you to join them for what promises to be both a fun and challenging event this year. If you've been thinking about playing in D-Day but never had the chance, this is as good a Allied unit as you're ever going to find. Don't just play paintball this year, live the experience and you'll be one of those who says "It's just a game till you've played it." Official Oklahoma D-Day sign up for the 1st Infantry Division The Bunker Extreme, Army Surplus, Oklahoma Sincerely,
