Red tiger mini mag anyone?

So I already posted this on the other og forums. I figured I'd post it here... Painted my mag red tiger.. but when I baked it the paint melted and screwed some of it up, I am going to strip it eventually and paint it again, and bake it right (not laying down) Other than the horrible marks from the baking I thought it turned out awesome.

Comments, trolls, ect are welcome.

before clear coat

After baking

Flaws from baking

I'd leave it just as it is. It looks great! I wish I had a Mag to tinker with.

Re: Red tiger mini mag anyone?

Just a little update.. So since I got this working, and my taxes done I figured I'd splurge a little on my marker, Before I did my taxes I picked up a new liquid red dye rotor, since they were on sale for 150 at ans gear.. now they have liquid tan which would be so much nicer in the woods, but oh well, like I said I'm not much for hiding, and if I want to hide i'll play pistol, pump, or with my a-5. After the taxes, I kept going to baccipaintball.com, and looking at their mag barrels.. I was torn between two tarnished brass barrels.. This 10" BOA snakebite, and the 12" BOA SP ported barrel, both tarnished to crap, but nothing a little BRASSO wouldnt fix. I went with the snakebite because the SP ported one seems to have about 4 inches od usable barrel, with the rest being porting, probably would be quiet, but probably not that efficient, plus people who rave about BOA barrels, all love the snakebite barrels, so I went with that one.. The barrel came today so I figured I'd update this thread.. Oh and I got a better ASA, while I was at it..

Here's the barrel when it arrived no detent, sad o-rings and tarnished..

Took some brasso to it.. didn't take NEARLY the amount of work I expected it to..

then after adding new barrel o-rings and a plastic nubbin I couldnt resist a photo OP..

Now whaddya think??

Re: Red tiger mini mag anyone?

wow man rep for sure!
I Love it!
good work.

here is a lil idea, since the brass barrel is kinda at odd with the rest of the marker, ever think of replacing a few parts for brass parts?
like the air elbows and or grip screws?

just an idea

Re: Red tiger mini mag anyone?

actually yes.. I have a brass 90 coming out of the air thru grip going to the valve, and an oddball 90 going from the valve back.. I intend on putting another brass elbow out of the valve, and I don't think I can find brass macro fittings otherwise I already would have lol.. any suggestions for other brass parts I can add?

Re: Red tiger mini mag anyone?

McMaster-Carr

these guys are great but use it more as a reference
as you need to kinda buy in bulk to make up the price of shipping

As for other parts, I would suggest the grip screws, its a small feature but it will stick out with the other brass. I would love to say the trigger but not sure if you can find a brass trigger, guess there is always painting it kinda goldish
But i think the small parts and the trigger would really set that marker off
the brass complements the red perfectly!

*edit* a brass feed neck would look pretty cool but wouldn't be necessary

Re: Red tiger mini mag anyone?

omg rep for the feedneck idea, but I thing it'll be hard to find one.. I'll keep an eye out.. Already dug some brass 90s out of the toolbox and polished them up.. it now has a brass 90 with a straight black macro fitting coming from the bike grip to a black 90 into the ASA... Decided to go that route cuz the brass 90 dug into my hand when it was mounted in the asa. Also changed the 90 c oming out of the valve to a brass one, polished the safety up since it seems to be a brass looking type metal, and polished the brass 90s to bring it together.. I'll go to the hardware store when I get a chance and look for brass grip screws, and I really want to find a new piece of SS line going from the grip to the valve with brass ends.. I have one but its about 2 inches too long.. then i'd put a piece of shrink tube covering the stainless line, so just the brass ends are exposed, and it should be close to what I am lookin for.. pics to come when I am not busy, and the sun is out.

That sounds awesome man

and for the feedneck, maybe just a brass elbow might work
or a copperish elbow, and polish it up
and this is gonna look sick man, even though its just small details
its enought that you make the marker yours

good luck and cant wait till the finished product
