Force Products A5 feedneck adapter

This review is my initial observations of the "Force Products A-5-Adapter"

I ordered it on EBay, however many forums don't allow EBay links. Search for the 'company' Force Products and their wares will appear.

I ordered the feedneck and got it today (4 days later). Shipped in a first class bubble envelope, I opened that to see the product individually wrapped with a header/label. The front has a decent graphic scheme and the back has a "warning" about removing the air source from the marker when working on it...and then simple installation instructions.

Upon removing the unit from the packaging, I immediately smelled the odor of paint. Looking at it, the flat spots look really good and actually has the appearance of powder coating but upon closer examination of the edges, corners and curves, there is paint build-up and a little bit of globbing/dripping. It seems that they used a dull/matte black type of paint similar to Krylon Fusion or the high temp BBQ paint. It doesn't look horrible but is noticible on close inspection.

The inside appears very smooth, even with the paint to it. There do not appear to be any sharps inside that might break or cut the ball as it passes through the channel.

Previous buyers noted a hand-stamped "Pat. Pend." on their neck, however this one doesn't have it anywhere on the unit.

The neck comes with two bolts wrapped in plastic and are taped. As seen in the pics, one is to mount the unit to the shells and the other is to plug the cyclone port in the receiver half.

Milling isn't cheap and the overall conscruct seems very solid. A previous design showed this to be a very square unit. The model I received is rounded on the edges and is milled with a "flute" channel with what I perveive to be an attempt to aesthetically reduce some weight. It does look pretty good actually.

The feedneck port is controlled by a button-head Allen screw...much like the design of the tightening bolt of most Ion locking feed necks. Unscrew to loosen the neck port, add the hopper and then tighten.

You do NOT have to modify the A5 to install this. The feed hook and alignment pegs remain intact and slips into this unit. BIG plus for this feature over other mounting methods.

The overall design I'd give a 9.5 out of 10. Even milled as it is, I'm sure there could be more material milled off to lighten the weight.

The milling would get a 10/10. If there were no paint on the product, I could tell you if there were milling marks. Obviously I can't do that.

Simplicity of design gets 10/10, just because there's no messing around with this. Remove the bolt of your cyclone, remove the banjo fitting and replace them with this.

Ease of installation/lack of modification should get a 15/10 because NOTHING on the marker has to be modified in any way.

The finish leaves a little to be desired. Me personally, I'd like to see these powder coated or anodized dust black instead of painted. Given that this is a new company though, I can't blame them for trying to keep costs down. 6/10 for the finish.

Weight - I don't have a scale to weigh it but even though it isn't light, it doesn't weigh any more than the cyclone itself.

Overall and initially, Id give it at least an 8.5 out of 10. The most detracting thing for me is the paint job but I'm kind of a perfectionist.

For the $40 and free shipping it seems worth it, even for the paint job.
