Review of "Ghost Prototype." Enjoy!!

Alright boys, time for the grand daddy of my reviews!
I had earlier promised after posting my review of my UTG Tactical Vest that I would give you guys some more reviews. Rather than give multiple reviews on a bunch of little items, I decided to do a special sort of review.

Today, I am going to be doing a review of my go to primary for battle, my modded Tippmann 98 ACT that has been given the name "Ghost Prototype."

This review will encompass every item that is on the marker. That means grips, sights, barrels, internals, the whole shebang!

Here is the parts list that make this gun what it is today before it undergoes a major change.

2007 Tippmann 98 Custom ACT
-BT CAR Stock
-BT M16/Apex barrel
-RAP4 modded cyclone
-Opsgear M82 .50 BMG magazine
-Custom Boondock Saints grip panels
-Rocket Cock II
-Techie Lined X7 hopper
-Remote Line and Bipod
-Rufas Dawg bolt and powertube
-RT Trigger System
-Chinese mock ACOG sight on a riser

The CAR stock is great, definately a cheap and easy way to get a cool looking stock that is very functional. 6 positions are featured and will allow you to get comfortable behind the 98, which is good because thats where you will be for a while. I have had nothing but great things to say about these stocks and have experience no failures at all, so this part gets a 10/10.

The barrel is a nice setup. Not too great on accuracy, but the Apex definately makes up for it with my style of gameplay. I am unsure if they are still available, but if you get the chance to acquire one for a nice price, go for it! The shroud system is very sturdy, just make sure that the grub screws are snug and you should be ready to go. The aimpoint is adjustable for elevation as well. Since accuracy is average I can't give it a perfect score, however, it does very well at its job and the Apex just makes the deal that much better. It is also a snap to add on picatinny rails top and bottom if you choose. I chose to run a rail along the bottom for any accessories and holds up well. 8/10

Now for the RAP 4 cyclone upgrades. This is everything, including the QEPH, ratchet, rod, paddles, all of what RAP 4 offers. My parts have been holding up great, they have lasted for a year and a half now without any maintenance issues, just as it should be. I have the same setup on my B5 that shot very well at 23bps, so it should easily fit the bill of my RT system. I have not had any loader related breaks or chops, the thing is just downright awesome. 10/10 for sure.

The M82 mag is nice. Made of steel and was simple to bolt on. One nice part about it is it covers most of your airline and protects it. Also makes a great place to rest the gun on a downed log or something if you like. Opsgear outdid themself with this one although they are unavailable now. I can't really give it a rating because it is just purely cosmetic, but it does look awesome!

Then there is the custom Boondock Saints grips. I am a big fan of the movie, and when I saw these I just couldn't refuse. I found them on Ebay for $20. The quality is great and is there just for looks. The edging is a bit rough to hold onto and isn't the most comfortable in the world, but who cares when you wear gloves anyways? So I have to give them a 6/10 just for the comfortable factor.

The Rocket Cock II is a nice little gimmick to have. I have had a few times where the little guy had actually saved me some time in cleaning when that area was shot by two paintballs. It protected the internals from the splatter that would have been covering the hammer and everything around it from the inside. My only issue is that I like to have my stock in the second position back and to arm the 98, I need to move the stock back a few clicks before I can cock the gun. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. 7/10

My favorite feature has got to be Techie's liner for my X7 hopper. The liner is water resistant, easy to clean, durable, and quiet! I have had it in there for quite some time now, almost 2 years I think. There is no sign of the liner lifting up at all and is in the same condition as when I bought it. The liner is precut and is a piece of cake to apply. Like he says, if you can do a children's puzzle, you can apply this. Just peel and stick. The level of noise has been effectively reduced by 50% or more, making it very quiet in the woods. Very easy to be ninja-quiet when sneaking. I have nothing bad to say about this, you did an amazing job with this, Techie!! 10/10

I also like to use a bipod and remote line with this 98. The bipod allows me to rest the gun on the ground without laying it on its side, and also comes in handy for my style of play. I am always sure to have a steady aiming platform when waiting for the enemy. The legs are adjustable in height and are very quick when its time to fold up and hoof it. The remote is nice because I can get rid of the weight from the gun and put it on my back where it is least noticable. 8/10 for the extra weight the bipod adds to the barrel.

The Rufas Dawg bolt and powertube are nice, but I didn't notice a single increase in performance anywhere across the board. I like how it is venturied and cradles the ball, but I am not sure if it is ever needed in any application that I can think of. Makes a good replacement part if anything. 5/10 for this.

The RT Trigger is the heart and soul of this gun. In my case, I have a 1/8 hose instead of 1/16 for more airflow and wider sweet spot. The gun has been able to fire upwards of 19bps when I need it the most. Its nice because I can fire single, burst of any amount, or full auto when I need to. It really is nice being able to do that on the fly without batteries, switches, whatever. I have only good things to say about this system, no breakdowns, nothing. 9/10 for price.

Lastly, for my own pleasure I have a cheap ebay special of a ACOG style red dot on a cantilever mount on top of a sight riser. The combo does very well with each other, which is surprising. I really only use it when I need that first shot on target, after that it doesn't get used a whole lot. It is half for looks, and partly for functionality. I've got nothing much to say about it other than that. 7/10 for cheapness and limited functionality.

Be ready for the next wave of a review for "Ghost Prototype." The next review will be done once I get some playing time on the Tacamo Magazine Conversion Kit. I have the pre-order in now and will be coming to me with 3 magazines total. It is sure to change the way I play the game, and I can't wait. Maybe this time, Ghost Prototype will actually force me to spend less money on paint, since it will force me to be conservative and on my feet. Any comments are appreciated and I will work on adding some pictures to this current review. Any other picture requests will be taken into consideration and added for your pleasure!
