Piranha USP - your thoughts

I'm thinking about buying a USP from a guy on CL for $40. I would like to get y'alls opinion on the gun. Does anyone own one or has owned one? Any tips you can share or quirks I should look out for? This is going to be my first pistol and this looks like a good starter from the reviews I have read. I'm saving my pennys to get a TPX, but that is going to be a little ways down the road.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Re: Piranha USP - your thoughts

USPs are decent. I had one briefly and it did pretty well. Like most top loading pistols, it seemed a bit front heavy, although not nearly as bad as a Zeus or an Ariakon.

I wish I'd know someone was looking for a TPX over here. I just sold one for $165.

Re: Piranha USP - your thoughts

got mine bout a week ago tried it once worked great for the price but when your putting in co2 make sure the gun is cocked or the co2 will leak also when taking off the grips be careful or the microscopic safety spring will go flying and you won't find it again heres a pro vs con chart to help you decide

pros:
price can't be beat.

uses piranha parts grips, bolts, rammers, detents.

very easy to strip/clean.

cons:
non replaceble barrel horrible.

eats up co2 like crazy.

the ball in the breach blocks other balls from loading
in the mag = very slow reloads.

Hope this helps.

Re: Piranha USP - your thoughts

Thanks for the tips guy. I didn't end up getting the piranha after all. The guy left me waiting for over an hour and a half without a call or text or anything. It worked out for the better though, I ended up getting a Delta 68 for the same price. I haven't gotten to use it yet, but it seems pretty nice.

I took it apart and cleaned everything inside and out. I don't think he ever did... I replaced all the o-rings. The only problem is that it seems to be missing an o-ring/recoil pad that goes between the hammer and the velocity adjuster. Any advice on a suitable replacement? I was thinking about just going to a hardware store and getting a rubber washer. Do you think that would work well enough?
