Motherboards don't have boot sectors to develop problems... Hard Drives have boot sector problems.

Just sayin... don't think you should have to replace a working part to find out that something else is whats really busted.

Yha, I htink your right. Dads the computer guru, not me. All I know is you cant fully boot up and its not a hard drive issue( we changed out 3 different ones, and all 3 where formatted). We also thought it was an operating software issue( since we're trying to load windows 7 on it) but after 4 failed tries we tried to reload an operational windowsXP version, but that failed as well. The motherboard has an identity issue( I think) and we could restore it, but its was not the best of platforms to begin with so where just trashing it.( we actually got the board for free and we had most of the rest of the parts on hand)

Vortex, I think you're referring to the BIOS as the source of the problem.

Maybe.....

You can get into the BIOS no problem, but for some reason after we load an operating software, it fails to recognize it and it tries to boot from a previous version or safe mode( which that dosent work cause there is no safe mode or previous version to boot to).
