Valve lock bolts

Ok so I found one of the two valve lock bolts on e the floor today. Could I have stripped the threads in the power tube? The bolt looks fine. Could I use locktite maybe to get it threaded tight enough? Let me know what you guys think. I want to avoid buying a new power tube.

Its not the number of markers you own it is what you have done to make them your own style of marker.

Re: Valve lock bolts

Are the valve bolts even that improtant? I just checked my 98 and it is missing both but it works just fine. Is there something terribly wrong with this?

Re: Valve lock bolts

UnstablePriest, the power tube is what the valve rests in. If the bolt threads on the valve are stripped you will new valve body. It is easier to just get a new valve though.

Dormant Cheese, the bolts are somewhat important on a pre-platinum series 98 marker. They hold the valve in place when the hammer hits it. With them you could potentially have re-cocking and velocity issues. If you have a Platinum Series 98 you don't need them. The valve is held in place by the gas line which is held in place by the gas line hex nut.

Re: Valve lock bolts

I appreciate the info guys. I'll try the Teflon tape first since I have it readily available. If that doesn't work then I'll move onto replacing the valve body. Btw...where can I get one cheap?

Re: Valve lock bolts

You can see if there is an authorized Tippmann repair center near you. If there is you should be able to give them your damaged valve and they will give you a new one. You could also call Tippmann and let them know you need a new valve. Last just go to tippmannparts.com and buy the valve body or the whole valve. Unless you have a lot of patience and are willing to get the snap ring out I highly suggest just getting a complete valve assembly.
