98 Custom ACT

I got a 98 Custom ACT off a friend who doesn't play anymore. It came with a Tippmann shoulder stock, but there is a spring, about 2 inches long that was sticking out the bolt opening. It's not the bolt drive spring, and the gun fires fine. The stock is kind of loose, you can spin it if you want to. He said before the spring popped out the side the stock was solidly in place. Was this just a spring to keep the stock in place, or something more? Thanks

Re: 98 Custom ACT

it must be the ACT ( ANTI CHOP TECHNOLOGY ) spring. TRY THIS. Open up the back end of the marker and take out the shoulder stock. The bolt drive spring should insert directly into the middle of the shoulder stock and there ( SHOULD BE ) a slightly larger circular hole directly above it, thats where the extra (ACT) spring should insert into. IF THERE IS NO HOLE ABOVE THE BOLT SPRING THEN U NEED TO REPLACE OR GET THE STOCK ACT END PIECE THAT CAME WITH THE GUN IN ORDER FOR THE ACT TO WORK.

if not then the marker most likely isnt screwed together ( properly ). your best bet is to open it up. Hope this helps.

Re: 98 Custom ACT

It has the hole for the ACT spring, when the stock got twisted it messed the spring up. Looks like I'm ordering a stock ACT upper & lower spring, and the spring pin. Is this an easy fix?

Re: 98 Custom ACT

yea its pretty simple just insert the spings and spring pin and your ready role. But i would try to find out what caused/causing the stock to rotate like that other wise it will just happen all over again. Goodluck bud

Re: 98 Custom ACT

My gun has the AK47 Handguard on the front (it came like that). Can I get that off with the standard allen wrench, or am I going to need something smaller? It appears to be 3 screws, the standard hex bolt, and then a really tiny one, but it might just be a pin.

Yeah. It is pretty much a PITA. You have to get a philips screwdriver and pop the screws holding it together out. then use the allen wrench and take out the grip screws.
