Unhappy Tippmann 98 Bolt Keeps slamming down.

Hi all !

Last weekend I went to the Kronos Biggame in Germany, on the last day of the event my marker started acting up. I use a custom 98 Pro with an E-trigger installed.

Immediately I went to the Tippman stand but they were packing so the guy told me he'd love to take a look if he had the time and suggested that I sent a mailed Tippmann Europe. So that's what I did but I still don't have an answer from them and decided to post it up here.

The problem is the fact that the bolt in my marker sometimes fires multiple times in a row while it should be semi automatic. Because of the high speed at which this happens even my Cyclone feed can not catch up. The man from the Tippmann stand told me it should be the little pin which is used as a joint for the sear. I just took the marker apart and everything seems fine. It is not bend nor broken. The sear itself seems to be OK also.

Do you guys have an idea what the problem might be ?

Thank you in advance !

Setup :
Custom 98 ACT.
Cyclone Feed.
APE Rampage Board.
Closed Bolt.
Hammerhead Goldmember.
HP Bottle (1,1 L 300 Bar)

Edit : Typo

check the sear spring. also you may want to check the hammer for wear. if either of these isn't functioning it will cause the marker to cycle at weird intervals..

A Dormant Cheese will become famous soon enough
Re: Tippmann 98 Bolt Keeps slamming down.

Also make sure that your receiver halves aren't all gummed up. that can slow down the bolt and prevent it from resetting.

Just took the gun apart :

Spring seems to be fine but Mr. Cheese was close, the bolt cover makes all kind of tiny black spots. That might slow down the bolt.

After cleaning it out :

Well just my luck that I seem to have run out of air so I can't test it

Anyways thanks a lot !

Well I didn't know the marker was getting dirty from the bolt cover, made to keep it clean.

Without a doubt that I'll be around.

Thanks again !

Its not the number of markers you own it is what you have done to make them your own style of marker.

Well .. It sounds like it's "clicking" when it's supposed to so I'm guessing it should be good now I have cleaned it.

Will post back when I got a change to test it.

good start and this isnt like an insult or anything being as the best of us look over the small answers but is the battery you are using new, or different from what you usually use. or anything like that
