Front sight/Hopper release "stuck"

So I'm a relatively new 98CP owner. I was doing my first full strip down to clean my marker out and when I put it back together and put the hopper on to see if it would fire I realized the front sight release was "stuck". It wasn't clicking back into place and holding the elbow-feed of the hopper.

I took it back apart and it looks like the spring has some how come loose. Between the front sight and the marker itself the spring has popped out. If you look at the front sight from the front its at a diagonal angle. I'm trying to take it off to reposition the spring but its really stuck in there. Can I remove the front sight? If so, how?

Re: Front sight/Hopper release "stuck"

The front sight also works as your hopper latch, I can say from experience that getting back into place is a big pain in the neck. I have found that if I put the spring in place then add a drop of super glue that it will stay in place as I put the rest of the marker together. It will take some trial and error to get it down pat and even then it will still have a tendecy to pop out on you. That one piece is the biggest pain of a 98, lol

The front sight is removable only after the two clam shells are separated. The front sight is mounted on a pin so it can swivel up and down to release your feed elbow or cyclone. Once the marker is apart you can pull the sight straight off the pin to reset the sight spring.

Adding the super glue to the bottom of the sight spring is a great idea..

By clam shells I am assuming you mean the "body" of the marker. I can see the pin but it is really stuck in there. I'm hoping pliers will allow me to get them out.

Make sure you have both havles apart when you do it, it is strange my sight pin has always been loose when I take it apart.
As far as the glue I got tired of watching the spring fly across the room and then having to find it, so SUPEr GLUE to the rescue lol.

This pin (the silver one) has never been touched before. Its dead set in there though. It may be a little stuck but my fingers lack the dexterity to remove them by hand.

You can leave the pin in and just pull the sight off. I see no real need to remove it. You can try soaking the front of the marker in water.. Maybe old paint has dried around it.

make sure you haven't over tightened the screw going through the latch that can stop it from working
