ive recently have been looking for a paintball gun and out of all the choices i have out there i only came down to two a tippmann a5 or a rap4 t68. and i have a question about the a5, if i do get it, most likely i am due the the high cost of a rap4, i plan on modding it but there is one issue that is bothering me, i wanna go for the m4/m16 look and out of all the kits that i saw they all looked messed up cause of this piece, i was wondering can i remove the piece in the red box of my pic(hopefully it shows

All you will need to do is sand/file it down and then repaint that part. Im pretty sure that is what Techie did when he did his 416 mod.

It really doesnt look that bad with a mag kit on there.

Or you can do like Pringle said and just mill it off there with Dremel.

It's not to hard to cut off and then file and sand smooth, and black spraypaint works pretty good for repainting if you don't look to hard. I did it to mine, along with mounting a rail and Havoc launcher:

Very easily removed. Dont waste your money on a RAp4 marker. Yes they look cool, and the mag feed is awesome, but they are, at least mine was, a very troublesome marker. I never succesfully fired one paintball from that marker, and dont get me started on the retardted velocity adjustment(down the barrel). Save yourself the headaches and buy an A5.
