Question What do you think, new 98 Platinum

I know one thing I would have like to seen different in the new 98 platinum is the foregrip. I dont like it at all and I think if they would have put a rail on the bottom with a adjustable foregrip it would have been a wonderful improvement. what do you think?

yes i realize now that I put 989 in my question lol

Re: What do you think, new 98 Platinum

i dont think they wanted to deviate too far from the 98 concept. You change the grip and that takes away the main charicteristic of the 98. I aint crazy about the 98 front grip either, but that is what makes it look like a 98.

I didnt vote causeI dont like it, but I respect it being there. A little marker Zen going on.

Re: What do you think, new 98 Platinum

ya I feel thats what distinguishes it as a 98 as well. but then again if it did change i would finally start to build my 98 platinum, cyclone, r/t project.

what about do you feel they should have added a cyclone stock? I feel a cyclone is what make a tippmann now and it should come with one.

If people really wanted a gun with no foregrip and rails, they could have bought a BT-4. Internally, it's almost the same gun.

IMHO the 98 forgrip is the 98's thing that sets it apart, when ever i see that little stub sticking of the bottom of a gun i think, ahh the 98, and the cyclone is the A-5's and X-7's thing.

Re: What do you think, new 98 Platinum

When I was asked on Feedback on the design of this Marker one of the things that I had asked was a way to completelly remove the Front grip without getting the half stub grip left behind.

Thou I feel that we couldnt come up with a more Perfect version of the 98. The Cyclone while the best feed IMHO is always the next step on loaders and Tippmann didnt want the 98 plat to step into the a-5 Market.

Re: What do you think, new 98 Platinum

Have Dremel, will travel!

The BT4 isnt a bad choice for someone wanting the same performance but with out the 98 handle. Looks more like an A5, but nothing wrong with that.

The 98 gets used too much as rentals. Keeping the cyclone as after market keeps it affordable for the fields and newer players. Of course if the fields are like ours, they may start to see the Alpha Black taking up resiency as the rental marker of choice. We're suppose to be switching over to them. Which means I will finally get a chance to try one out. I mean there is like a $10 to $20 difference on price and you get a mil sim feel right out of the box. For a scenario field, I think the Alpha Black makes a good choice for rentals. If it takes off, maybe we could see the next jump for the 98 to be more substantial...?

Now I based price off of Action Village's prices, so take that into account.

Re: What do you think, new 98 Platinum

Alpha Black is the Model 98 that all us MILSIMers dreamed about. A Gun that shot just like a 98 that wasnt like $300 bucks worth of Bolt on Upgrades that made the 98 look like a Crazy M-4.

Here is my Original 98 circa the year 2000...

This was for me at that time the Flagship of MILSIM. Since there where no Mag kits. Now Fast Forward 8 years and we find ourselves with the Custom Platnum an awesome platform that its like the workhorse of Paintball. Thou they did find a way to bring the 98 to MILSIM. Change the Clamshells.

Thou all of them Inside are still Basically Tippmanns Model 98's.

I am still dissapointed that you got a AB, X7, etc.

Well not dissapointed, just... a bit envious.
