new owner of the orig. Model 98!!

Hi all, my 1st post here!

I just got a starter pack (the Model 98, mask, flatline barrel, 2 CO2 can, and some extra paintball can that you put on your belt, oh, and 3 bags of paintballs) off craigslist for $60. Occasionally, the hammer won't go back to cook position after I fire. Is it gonna be a valve problem?

I am also wondering what kind of upgrade is available for the M98. Will most of the 98C upgrades work for M98 as well?

Thanks very much!

Re: new owner of the orig. Model 98!!

upgrades:
RT, Ebolt, LPK, Vert air adapter, powertube, front and rear bolts

stocks, there will probably be a fit issue, either the stock or receivers will need a little fitting

barrels: C98s should fit a M98...M98 barrels WON'T fit on a 98C however

egrips are a no go

your recocking issue is probably just caused by dirt and a good cleaning and polishing is needed

The recock has been a lot better after I took it apart and clean it. But now some time it won't cock all the way to the sear. I had to pull a little for it to latch, is it a valve problem?

Wait, so when you say it doesn't recock all the way, do you mean the hammer stops almost all of the way back or does it return forward? If it's stopping mid-cycle then it's catching on something. It might be jamming on a ball or a burr in the recievers. If it returns forward, you might just be shooting faster than your tank recharges. Or you just need a new hammer o-ring.

Yup, the hammer got almost all the way back and then stuck, I need to give it a little pull for it to latch. But it doesn't happen often. IIRC it happens when I'm running low on CO2 but I can't say for certain.

Ok, next time it happens, before you cock it pull the feed elbow off and see if its jamming on a ball. If not, then like I said it's getting caught on something.
