TaisaKisu's Winter Project - AFKM-12

Figured I'd let you folks know what I was up to. Had to start working on this bugger so I didn't forget my ideas which was yesterday. Trucking has its privileges.

Anyone guess what's happening in the last two pics? And by the way, I tore up my BT AK47 barrel kit apart just for this silly idea. I was thinking with a bit longer barrel, I can put the AK gas block on it to give it a different feel. That's for another day though. Took me less than 40 minutes to put together, grind, smooth out and fit. This is set onto my Widowmaker barrel. I love the idea I'm going to be putting together. Right now, I'm a bit torn between the ROC Stock and the Trinity Hellfire stock as either way, I'm going to have to modify it so I can run a remote to the back end of the marker. There's nothing like a nifty mini-machine gun small enough to hide in the bushes but big and intimidating enough to set those rifleman ducking for cover.

Oh, and I designated this beast AFKM-12 (Angel Force Kalashnikov Minigun "Model 2012"). So far, I got the detent problem worked out which was the first thing I noticed had problems with. Detent was sitting too low which would effectively cause the bolt to dip down (main reason ColonelYun from X7OG has chopping problems) and catch the ball below. I've managed to make it so that the detent sits firm in it's milled position but at the same time, allow the bent part to squeeze itself into a pocket I created so that the bolt can easily slide past without being forced down. RAP4 could have double checked to ensure the detent area was milled out correctly.

I can't either but we know how projects go these days. They're more time consuming than we want them to be. LOL

Re: TaisaKisu's Winter Project - AFKM-12

So after doing some modification to my cyclone, I decided I'd do some testing. Here's what the cyclone looks like now:

The reason for this is to get as much room in the OPS Gear M249 Box mag so that the angled part of the mag keeps the ball stack from putting too much pressure on the paddles. Plus, it acts like a bottleneck that you see on your A5/X7 hoppers which allows the paintballs to fall into place nicely.

I know have the 4mm banjo sitting where the old 1/8 banjo fitting used to sit. It fits snugly and pivots better than the Tippmann banjo. I am using a 4mm microline to help ensure that even with a 16" hose length, it will still provide enough air to cycle the paddles. With the current banjo plug in the Phenom, the outlet is too small and does not let out enough air to cycle the paddles properly. This will be fixed with the Phaze 5 fitting.

Now I'm getting really anxious because I want this boxmag finished ASAP. Reason? I'm playing again on the 20th of February so I'm hoping to get out there and test this beast out.

I have some mods coming in as I plan to use my Bangstikxx barrel instead of my Widowmaker to give the marker a bit of leverage as it'll be a bit front heavy. Plus a long barrel always seems to be pleasing to be with a heavy machine gun setup. So why not, eh? Gonna need to figure out what kind of shroud I'm gonna get (if I can, I'm planning on either making or modifying my current Phenom shroud for the RPK or SVD type shroud.). Though I'm gonna have to see if I can find rails for the shroud considering I'm having my Tachyon MicroXC as my gun cam seeing as the audio don't work properly.

This project is getting more exciting every time I work on something. I'm already in the prospect of getting the FLASC barrel kit so I can unscrew my barrels when I need to unlike with the HH barrels. It sucks but I don't have any ideas to fix that right now.

Re: TaisaKisu's Winter Project - AFKM-12

Just a bit of an update.

I'm still waiting for some parts to show up but I have been browsing to see how I can complete this bad girl. I managed to come up with a better idea for my AFKM-12 "Streak" for the shroud. Instead of the gas block being right up against the Phenom shroud, I'm going to take a piece of the gas block and JB weld them to the shroud and gas block so that it is free-floating. I found this will give it a better and more unique "AK" look. That is still work in progress as I found out the gas block tube used on the BT AK47 kit is METAL!! Dayum! No discs left to cut them and my blade on my hack saw is done, I'm left with nothing to do until my parts get here.

So, onto the parts list I plan to get:

Stock: Retractable Air Through Stock for X7 Phenom
Foregrip: http://www.rap4.com/store/paintball/viewloader-vertical-ris-folding-grip?options={tpl_1203573475}
Sight rail: http://www.rap4.com/store/paintball/tactical-see-through-rail-sight-tippmann-x7-phenom?options={tpl_2369728074}
Boxmag "mag"Your standard Milsig Magazine (will be coming from Specialist so thank you bud!)
Barrel:Control bore set only - Flasc Paintball!
Scope: ACOG from ebay. Can be had for $50 shipped.
Vest:BT Merc Vest w/ 2 x 3+4 molle pod pouches, 1 x 2+3 pod pouches, ID pouch, Name pouch, 2 x large tank pouches (fit 90ci/4500psi ninja tanks I'm getting) and KCK admin pouch. Getting custom name tags for my vest with my name on it as I already have my team tag for my one tank.

Now, the idea behind this beast is I like the heavy gunner role. Most people who have played with me know I tend to be a bit lazy (I'm a big guy after all!) on the attack front but I can definitely put up a fight if I'm really needed. I'm more into being a decoy and putting people's heads under bunkers so I can allow my team's flankers to get up and eliminate before they have a chance to fire back at me. So, for Living Legends 5, I plan to get all the gear I need, get rid of the ones I don't need (or at least find a good home for them) so that I can ensure I don't get gear that collects dust. With my tax refund coming around 2nd week of March, I'll be able to purchase all the goods I need. I expect my project to finish somewhere around mid April at best, sooner if I really put my mind to it on the weekends.

Now, some of you may be asking me "Why no hammerhead barrel?" Well, there's a few reasons. I've been find that my HH don't perform well during the cold weather and this year was my first time playing in winter this cold. I mean, not many people get out to play the last few years but it's changed drastically this year now that we have indoor fields (it's been so many years before they finally listened!). And I like the idea of full control bore with a single barrel and using tips as it makes maintaining barrels much easier. Seeing that there is already glowing reviews of FLASC barrels, I'm giving them a shot since they're Canadian after all. Doesn't mean I'll move away from my Hammerhead barrels. They'll have their place on my AXE for sure. But this will mean a few of my HH barrels will be for sale seeing as I don't want the short barrels anymore. I had my fun with them. It's someone else's turn now and I'll be giving it to them for a good discounted price.

There are a few things I'm looking into to making this project as success. It mostly depends on the quality work and time I put into the project as with any project (Chesire, I love your work man! Got my inspiration from ya! SAS-Necro is the other guy I got my inspiration from. Living Legends 5 gave me the reason to build this. Necro said I'm one of the "cool" guys and I must have a "cool" marker to join. I figured why not. )

I'll keep ya posted but for now, my project is stalled for at least a couple of weeks. I am more than happy to share my work with others if they want to try this project.

I see what you did there, random robot98. Good one.
