Question about R/T 1/8" hoses & adapter kit

I recently purchased the R/T adapter kit for the Tippmann 98 w/Cyclone feed (part #T299003), which comes with the bigger 1/8 hoses. It also comes with a 1/16 metal insert that according to the instructions it goes inside the hose that connects to the Cyclone Feed, thus reducing it's diameter to 1/16". My questions are: What's the difference between using and not using this metal insert? Will it prevent the Cyclone feed from feeding paintballs? Thanks

Police protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves. Police do not protect you from crime. They usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Re: Question about R/T 1/8" hoses & adapter kit

im not too sure exactly how the cyclone works... cuz im poor hah. but i would think it just restricts the volume of air going to the unit. the pressure would stay the same and do the job, but with the bushing, it would use less volume and save on air. without it, you might have an issue with more wear and tear on the internals and of course air efficiency would drop a bit but, like i said, im not too familiar with the cyclone, just my 2 cents.

If you have the right fittings to get the bigger hose onto the cyclone, then it will cause the cyclone to cycle faster. I've heard that with that and all the TechT upgrades you can get upwards of 25 BPS out of it.

Re: Question about R/T 1/8" hoses & adapter kit

I haven't tried it myself but I'd suggest trying it without the insert, and then add the insert if you're having issues. There shouldn't be any noticeable difference since the same volume of air travels through the hose whether you're using 1/8" or 1/16" hose. If you were trying to hit some extraordinary fire rates (20+ bps) I believe the 1/8" hose would be more beneficial since the air could get into the cyclone piston faster.

I apologize for the thread jack here, but does anyone know if I could order this kit (which I assume is the same kit we're talking about above) to just upgrade my R/T hose to 1/8"? Tippmann Adapter for Cyclone Feeds with Response Trigger Kits [98]

I'm asking because I don't have a cyclone feed on my 98, nor do I have a need for the T fitting since my 98 has two ports to connect the cyclone and RT separately. I think I should be able to just take the 1/8" hose, the banjo fitting (the one that's intended to be screwed into the cyclone piston), and the flow control valve and replace my existing R/T parts. Can anyone confirm if my thoughts are correct on this? I figure it would be about $10 cheaper than ordering all the parts separately.

I just received my parts kit and it does indeed work for upgrading just the RT hose to 1/8".
