Unhappy TPN Egrip on Tippmann 98

Dear Ops,

I have recently bought a tippmann 98c platinum series. I use a tippmann SSL 200 loader on it and changed the tube to the old 98C power tube and valve so that i could fit a macroline and the ego ASA on/off on it.

Here's where the problem starts. When I bought it from a shop here in Malaysia, they were out of the 98C egrips and the guy at the store told me that the TPN egrip for the sierra one and bravo one would fit in it because it came along with 2 rods (the long and the short). The first few times i played with it, it was working brilliantly until about the 2nd or 3rd time. I normally shoot in 3-burst shot mode, this time the gun started double shooting. It was more apparent once i switched the full auto on. It goes bang-bang-3bang, bang-bang-3bang, bang-bang-burp-burp.... (this was before i changed to theold 98c tube & valve). Sometimes when i shoot it too fast, i needed to re-cock the gun.

I took it back to the store and the guy told me he fixed the sear which was the problem. So he changed it, but the problem still occurs. I was convinced it was the tube, so since I wanted to add a macroline, I decided to change the power tube and valve. However, the problem keeps coming... only this time not too constant.

I'm okay with how it works now, it's just that I would like to be able to use full auto without the gas burps and double shots.

I wonder if anyone has this problem. Is the egrip the problem? the sear? bolt? bare in mind that my gun is brand new.

Any ideas anyone?

Re: TPN Egrip on Tippmann 98

In all honesty I would put all the stock parts back in braided line powertube and what not also there are 2 kinds of sears fore the new 98 custom one has a circle hole this is for an egrip model the second comes with all stock 98s and it has an oval and the sear spring for the stock one is stronger then the egrip sear spring. And just to let you know 98 aftermarket parts are hit or miss not all of them will work best not to change anything till it breaks which could be a long time.

Wink Re: TPN Egrip on Tippmann 98

thanks mate.

i havent thrown any of the stock parts yet. i have the circle holed sear. might think about putting the stock spring back.

here in malaysia we play with hpa and only old places pack the co2 or n2. the macroline is bad on co2s, from what i read in the reviews, so no real issue with the hose.

does the normal c98 burp shots in full auto? if it's normal then im prepared to accept that.

Re: TPN Egrip on Tippmann 98

sounds like the sear possibly may not be catching if it is still burping..Did you put it all back stock. Not sure if the macro is the prob I just added macro to mine and it is working find. And I'm not to sure about the tpn egrip working on the 98c. Someone else may want to chime in but if the sear trip is just alittle too long it may keep the sear from catching and give you some burping. And about that sear spring I would try to use which ever one you have that is the stiffest. And also check your hammer oring...any small knicks or cracks will allow air to escape around it when the hammer strikes the valve, not allowing the air to reset it all of the way... hope this helps..

an egrip made for the alphablack in my 98. in fact i used it yesterday. No problems even in the rain. I think you might just be having a sear issue or a spring issue

Cool Re: TPN Egrip on Tippmann 98

so you are saying it's not the egrip? how long ago did u install yours? did you change everything that came along with the egrip?

i even changed the sear and the sear spring with the ones that came in the tpn egrip.

Re: TPN Egrip on Tippmann 98

fixed the problem. had a big game last few weeks here in battlefield putrajaya, malaysia. my brother loaned me his dye rotor. didnt have the burps no more. when he wanted it back, i put my ssl back on and it happened again. my guess is it's the loader not feeding fast enough. working fine now. thanks guys
