Model 98 (not custom) Egrip compatable?

Yeahup as the title says.
(Some of you will know me from A5OG)
But I have an OLD model 98.
You know, the kind that out dates the 98 custom, where the receivers dont split down the middle.
I was wondering if the grip can house a RT or board.
Im turning my 98 into a AK.

Re: Model 98 (not custom) Egrip compatable?

No, I don't think they will fit. There's not enough room for the solanoid to fit. The shells are just molded different. But, I have some old 'really used' 98 customs, I'd be willing to trade you even up if you want. I prefer using model 98's over customs anyways. What is this your number on yours? Pm me if you're interested.

Yeah like Rat said, theres not chance your gonna fit a solenoid or board in there without issues.. You could possibly mod it with dremel, but honestly it would be better to just buy another used 98C or something newer that can house the parts necessary. As for a RT, you may be able to fit that in there because there are fewer parts that need to fit in the grip, but Im not 100% sure on that, so dont hold me to it. Your best bet is to find a friend with an RT and just compare the shells together side by side before purchasing the unit.

Yes you can fit an R/T in a plain jane 98, but it does take a lot of dremel work to get it just right.

To fit an rt in you'll have to drill and thread a hole in the right half for the added air line, and get a different power tube. There is also some additional milling needed on the grip. Tippmann doesn't even do all that, they trade out the body shells. So yes, an rt is possible but not easy. Trade offer still stands.

Just found this, look in this thread, TLs 98 Custom *pic heavy* , there are pics of c98 shells, you can see the grip where the solenoid and etc would go.

Re: Model 98 (not custom) Egrip compatable?

Bahaha glad I could help

It would be cool to see the millling process and work to make one with a RT. There would be alot of work as there isn't much room once its together unless it was really hollowed out.

But as with anything, with enough elbow grease, money, determination... ANYTHING is possible lol
