Dead Man's Walk

I was wondering if anyone had tried the dead man's walk. And if you did, did it work?

I'd definitely consider it cheating. There's a fine line between making an opponent believe something that isn't true (I am famous for dropping the pressure on my 98 to make it "fart" to draw in the vultures) and outright lying.

Re: Dead Man's Walk

yea i think i would be pissed if it happened to me, but if they never called themselves out i think it would be my fault for not paying more attention.. I like the idea of dropping the pressure tho.

Re: Dead Man's Walk

As long as the walk is not stated in the rules as a "no-no", then it is fair game.
Everybody if briefed on what a person who has been hit looks like.
Marker over their head, barrel plug/bag on the marker correctly and running to the DZ or the staging area.
If they aren't, put down no more than 5 rounds (if you can't aim worth a darn), to ensure their status. That way, if they are dead, you only shot them 1 time (use good sportsmanship here) to check. And if they were DMWing, then you took them out.

Like I said, if it isn't stated in the fields rules, it is allowed. like burping the tank or whatnot.

Re: Dead Man's Walk

I usually pop a shot at anyone walking around without their marker over their head and saying "I'm out" (I hate when you're out and little kids get cocky attutudes and point their markers at you when its obvious you are). I have never tried it, but I would like to at a private game of friends or something. I would feel sleazy doing it alot to random people.

Re: Dead Man's Walk

A dead man's walk is a rule I don't play or agree with. Why? Because dead men don't walk.

However, one can give the appearance of a dead man's walk without actually doing so. Such as a person casually strolling threw the woods, or if the person appears unarmed. I alway command the person to stop and put their hands up. If they refuse and it's obvious they aren't out (barrel sleeve on, and/or hand up..etc) then I shoot them. If they comply, then I have another person go up and barrel tag them while I cover them.

Re: Dead Man's Walk

Good words invictus. I will usually take a good look at the person taking the walk to see if they are out. If i know others are in the area and i dont want to give away my position fully I will take the shot unless im not noticed. If they dont look like there out they get a few shot taken on them. and if they happen to be out and i took a shot. they either going to scream that they out of they will be then. One can never be to careful or cautious for someone trying to take that walk.

Re: Dead Man's Walk

honestly i do not really agree with it. I have never done the dead mans walk just because i do not like it. I really only fell for it once, this was when i was still fairly new and did not know any better. The only other time i was quite annoyed because the person who did it to me i had shot out (yes the paint did break). So he came walking into the base where the dead box was and stood next to the dead box. I did not think anything of it considering how I SHOT him OUT. Next thing i know i felt a paintball hit me in the back. although it did not break so i shot him. This was also a ref that had done this (he was not reffing at the time). At my field the refs tend to "help" out refs that are playing and the fields team.

EDIT: yes it was this player who shot me not another

Re: Dead Man's Walk

Personal opinion is that if you are dead, you walk out with marker up and barrel blocking device on. If you walk out and I am not sure if you are out, you more than likely are going to be out for sure when you get close enough to me. I do not use the dead man's walk. It is cheating in my book. If you are out, then be out. If you are not, then play on. We play that you need to clearly make yourself out if you are walking out. Other than that, you are going to get painted.
