Lightbulb Buying a Tippmann 98 custom platinum

Hi, I'm thinking of buying a Tippmann 98 custom platinum, but I don't know which one I should get. I don't know if the ACT is worth it or if the custom platinum Pro is worth it. Does the Tippmann 98 ultra basic chop so many balls that the ACT version is necessary or not? Also, what mods should I install right away?

Re: Buying a Tippmann 98 custom platinum

it all depends on what you are planning to do with your marker?

do you plan to put a cyclone feed or a regular electric hopper?
do you want an e-grip or RT?
are you going to run remote or have the tank on the marker?

The reason why I am asking is because the other models come with stuff you may like and in the end save you money if you were to buy them separately. If you were to put an electric hopper I would say get one with act to ensure that you don't chop. It isn't really necessary with the cyclone since the way it is designed. If you want an e-grip then I say get the pro since it comes with a double trigger and with a pen spring mod or magnetic trigger mod you could make a walkable trigger without having to buy one. If you get an RT you really don't need a double trigger. and if you want to run the tank on the gun go to a shop and see how it feels with the drop forward on the pro then one without a drop forward. I suggest the drop because the 98 is a long marker and it cuts down the size, but its really just preference.

Re: Buying a Tippmann 98 custom platinum

So if I get an act platinum, should I do some modifications out of the box, like add a new barrel or something like that?

New barrel is a great thing to add out of the box, Tippmann barrels arn't very good. And possibly a new hopper, either electric or cyclone but that depends on how fast you are going to shoot.

I still keep the 98 stock barrel around (and use it some times) but I keep a 2 meter to 3.1 meter on mine usually with shroud and it works well for me

A new barrel is definitely a good thing to get right away (although not one longer than you are tall). Some sort of stock also helps alot.

I would not recomend a stock unless your going to get a vast or some sort of pod pack that can hold your tank so that you can use a remote line.

If I can't shoot over 8 bps, then should I not get the ACT? And later on can I install it separately?
